CP3 wants out, Bobcats not on his " list"

Yep, dead on. FWIW, the Bobs can offer all of that.

True but all of that is only half of the issue. CP3 (and now, most importantly, his new agency and marketing guys) have to be sold on Charlotte. That means we have to be able to surround Paul with players that can compete (and beat) all the teams in our division (Miami, Orlando, Atlanta). We have to be able to show his agency that they can market Paul(wearing our jersey) to all of America.

And, after we have probably mortgaged the farm to get him including paying the dreaded luxury tax for two seasons...there is a decent chance he will opt out and move on to a bigger market.

Is it worth it?

I don't know if it is worth it. Obviously the chances of CP3 resigning means a lot. I don't see CP3 as a whiner bitch that just wants to go to a bigger market- I think winning is his primary concern. If the Bobs somehow managed to land CP3 while keeping Jax, G-Force, and TT, they would be a very competitive team (figure 4-6 seed), particularly if they took Okafur back to play the 5 spot. Sure they would sacrifice some depth, but depth is particularly overrated in the NBA IMO. A good 8 man rotation is enough to make it through the regular season in the NBA with a backup big, a forward, and a combo guard on the bench. If the Bobs got CP3 and Oke, they would either have Nazr or another big coming off of the bench, possibly Derick Brown as the forward, and Larry Hughes or someone like that as the combo guard.

MJ's ego necessitates that he will make an offer to land CP3 or another superstar this offseason. Whether that materializes or not is yet to be seen.

Anyone can see what he was lobbying for when his "list" got leaked. Stoudemire is in New York, Howard is in Orlando, and Kobe is in LA. He wants to be paired with another superstar. Of course its up to this new GM to trade him or not, and to decide where he goes. He still has close ties to his home, and it can be argued that we have a pretty solid core that he can win with.

I happen to believe those are all smoke screens Cp3 threw up . None of those teams can trade for what the hornets are looking for. Cap relief..who can give that, even instantly? Bobcats.

Knicks have the best chance but they got rid of all their players last year to play on Lebron they gambled they lost now I dont think they even have the pieces another team could offer to get him. I guarantee Cp3 wouldnt be opposed to coming to the Bobcats and even so its not Cp3s choice its New Orleans.. just because its easy to say those 3 big market teams have a play is easy for a "source" to say..come on. Two of them already signed PGs and NO isnt even looking for a starting PG they have one..they're looking for young talent and expirings and I think that Dampier contract could put the Bobcats over the top. Go get em.

So Chris Paul is basically about to do what LeBron just did, except he's NOT a free agent and is under contract. And yet no one on this board hates him or is saying he has no heart because he's giving up on the franchise that drafted him. No one's questioning his loyalty. Paul (like his contemporaries Bron & Bosh) realized they have no chance of winning on teams like the Hornets, Raptors, and Cavs and are pushing to go to bigger markets that have more $$$ and more visibility. I dont blame him at all, in fact I would encourage all NBA players to go for self and do whats best for them. Because at the end of the day, the fans and the media dont have loyalty to them.

Valid point KT.

However, most of us hate George Shinn so much that we want to see CP3 screw him and the Hornets over.

I don't think anyone is calling Chris Paul the greatest player ever though or naming him the successor to MJ or Kobe. He's coming off an injury plagued year for a team that has willingly gotten worse and has no expectations as opposed to LeBron who was playing for a team that continuously tried to bring in new talent to a team expected to compete for a championship.

Cleveland was well ran and tried to build around LeBron and arguably it was LeBron's shortcomings that resulted in their ultimate failure. New Orleans has shown no effort to improve themselves, trading Tyson Chandler who played well with Paul and signing James Posey. That's about the only move I can think of that they've done. Oh, right, with their draft pick they decided to pick another PG in Collison...

the CP3 situation could be the opposite of the Lebron exit. He could end up hear his home. the ultimate homecoming storyline. another reason why this is different, not only was Lebron drafted in Cleveland, hes been in Ohio all his life. im not justifying either situation, im just saying they are different.

I haven't heard about a 1-hour special on ESPN where Paul is going to stick it to his fans and current city, have you?
