NFL shooting for 18 game season

I have no problem with that at all. What ever they need to do to help prevent a lockout. It will make it a little harder for some of the URFA to have a shot at making the team though.

I was watching NFL Live today and Clayton (A.k.a. Baby in a suit) was talking about a cease fire compromise contract that the NFL sent to the PA that included an 18 game season. Minus 2 exhibition games of course. What would you guys think about this?

My guess is it will probably happen.

No.No.No.No.No.

I don't know why Roger Goodell keeps doing crap like this.

This isn't what the players want, and it's not what the majority of most fans want.

By fans, I mean the ones who truely follow and understand the game BTW.

This is simply a financial move, and it makes me sick, because of how little concern it shows for the players.

I would support it, but this is a very good point. Decade old records would be broken left and right.

Its true, just as now they say things like "this is the best record, since the merger" they will start saying how the records now are since the season expanded, to separate itself from the past. Still will suck, but i would welcome more games.

And btw, Inception is an awesome movie

Not quite.

The NFL had a 14 game season after the merger.

That's why so many rushing records are being broken.

I too heard this on NFL Live. Personally, though two extra weeks to watch Carolina sounds like a blessing, Chris Carter brought up the point that years down to road when players are in their 40s and 50s, two extra games a week would be severely felt in their future. 16 seems like almost a eternity considering the beating each man takes. If this were to be implemented, roster sizes should increase.

I think I'd rather watch my favorite players play for a longer career than a couple of games that could be meaningless depending on a teams record for playoff implications. Also, 2 more weeks only means more money for players, or certainly the athletes are going to push for an increase in minimum salary.

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
