Carolina Panthers Close to Signing Terrell Owens????

I can see it happening (good/bad whatever) just like the Panthers signed Key Johnson... wouldn't have thought we would have signed him with his locker room issues, but look at what happened...

Yup - Keyshawn wasn't a bad pickup, and didn't cause too much of a ruckus.

T.O. will certainly draw some national attention to us, which is almost never a bad thing -- maybe then Showtime's NFL show will actually have us on a highlight reel more than once every three weeks.

So for the people who wouldn't want Owens here because he was a lockeroom issue a few years back would yall rather have deshaun foster back???? I mean don't guys remember the awesome run he had a few years ago... Or how about Jake I mean he led us to a superbowl a few years back..

Have they?

Eagles (with Terrell Owens)

2004- Finished 13-3 (Lost in the Super Bowl)

Eagles (without Terrell Owens)

2005- Finished 6-10 (Did not make playoff's)

Cowboys (With Terrell Owens)

2007- Finished 13-3 (Lost in the Divisional Round)

Cowboys (Without Terrell Owens)

2009- 11-5 (Lost in the Divisional Round)

It doesn't look like the teams got any better.

You also failed to mention that in 2008 the Cowboys went 9-7 with TO.

Doesn't make a difference though, TO is not coming down here but any team that gets him will be benefited in at least some way.

Lets face it.... We gave Meshawn Johnson a deal so anything is possible. Still I think its Beasons agent not the Panthers pulling the strings here. The fact is T.O. is a cancer just like Johnson was. I doubt the Panthers want another loud mouth in the locker room especially when tension is already high.

Once again, it's people saying no because they are pretending they are the gm. When push comes to shove if you want to win then you have to put the best players out there on the field and if it happens to be Terrell Owens then "It is what it Is"

I recall a lot of people bashing the Bobcats for trading for Stephen Jackson who had more issues and baggage than T.O. does. However the Bobcats organization has the right people involved to help an individual change his ways and so do the Panther. Hurney, Fox, and Richardson are some of the classiest guy's out there which is why it took them so long to break up with the beloved Jake Delhomme and if anyone can turn a man's life around it would be those three.

I am looking at T.O. as a football player. If I was looking for someone that I wanted to sit around and bake cookies with I would have gone to Kenny Moore, but I want a football player and that is what T.O. is.

I would welcome him here.

Throw the ball to T.O. Baby.

Sorry Anquan Boldin and Randy Moss you guys aren't welcome here either because we are looking to have a tea party not a Super Bowl Party.

The article is indeed just speculation, but for the individual's that keep saying NO to T.O., you have no basis for your decision except for the the fact that Beason said no or you want to pretend you own the Panthers organization.

T.O. has had many issues in the past but this league is not based on your personal life, if that was the case then Ben Rothlisberger, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Marshawn Lynch, Chad Ochocinco, and many others would not have a job. Terrell Owens is a hell of an athlete and can still play ball. He is a Hall of Famer and can make any team better. Sure T.O. has his problems but so does everyone else on this world. For those that think the Panthers roster is full of angles then check your sources.

1. Tyler Brayton- Fined $25,000 for kneeing Jeremy Stevens in the balls.

2. Ed Johnson- Arrested for speeding and possession of marijuana.

3. Jon Beason- Was involved in the recording of the song "7th Floor Crew", rap song about sexual activities on the seventh floor of Mahoney Hall.

4. Jimmy Clausen- Cited for illegal transportation of alcohol, got in an altercation at a bar which resulted in a black eye.

5. Mike Goodson- Fined $7,500 for making a throat slashing gesture toward the crowd.

6. Dwayne Jarrett- Arrested and charged for DUI.

7. Steve Smith- Arrested for misdemeanor assault for breaking Anthony Bryant's nose, Smith also punched and brok Ken Lucas's nose.

The Panthers have players with personal problems just like any other team. Also another thing to look at is who T.O. has played for in the past, and I am not talking about coaches; I am talking about owners. There is not a better guy than the big cat himself Jerry Richardson to help a man turn his life around.

If the Panthers want T.O. than I will welcome him with open arms.

Plus what defense is going to stop Matt Moore, Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, Steve Smith, and Terrell Owens?

And all of them combined haven't garnered the media attention that Owens has. Off the field problems are one thing, criticising your teammates, feuding with your QB, are another.

Fwiw, Owens hasn't looked that great the last couple of years, and I can't see them upsetting team chemistry to bring in a guy who is a year or two from retirement.

Hey he may have had legitimate gripes with his team mates, but of course the media is always right because fans are as fickle as they look. He was upset because he wanted the ball and he wanted to win. You didn't here anything from T.O. in 06 when the Eagles went to the Super Bowl. The guy wants to win and he wants to be involved. I guess none of you played a sport before. You were the one's in the stands at your high school and college football games. Well news flash any real athlete wants the ball in their hands.

If your still concerned with his problems from three years ago then you are probably "Gay". As a football player I will take T.O. and you can have Charly Martin and I guarantee you that I will win every time.

T.O. caused no problems in Buffalo and that was without a fugging quarterback that could actually play. He realizes that his time is drawing near and he may not have the much time left in the league but everytime he steps out on the field he plays his game.

What about a player assaulting not one teammate, but two? That just an off the field issue too?
