Panthers at a Glance...

Except where he said that we were 27th in the league in passing with a veteran QB and WR...yikes.

He forgot to understand that the veteran QB was an absoloute turnover machine and was by far the WORST QB in the league last season. Not to mention that the veteran WR was an aging one with no speed. I like Moose, but the young guys we have will be an upgrade in teh explosiveness dept.

The Panthers finished 27th in the league in passing last season … and that was with a veteran quarterback and a No. 2 receiver. This year? Yikes.

The above part is one I cant stand hearing from writers and people. Jake was SOOOOO bad last year that any 1/2 decent play by a QB will be an improvement this season. The writer mentioned we had a veteran QB but he did not mention it was horribly brutal one who either was missing receivers all over the field, throwing a pick or fumbled and alone cost the Panthers are least 4 wins.

He's spot on about the WR issue. Step away from being a Panther fan for a second, and pretend you're reading about another team in the NFL:

Blah Blah Blah, a second-round selection out of USC in 2007, is expected to finally step it up in his fourth NFL season as the second wideout. Of course, he's done next to nothing in his three years in the league. Third-rounder Blah Blah is an LSU guy like his position coach Tolbert, but is still a rookie with a lot to learn. Fellow 2010 third-rounder Blah is a converted college quarterback out of Appalachian State. Though uber-athletic and accomplished, there will be a learning curve for him, too. Other names in camp this summer are former Jets special teams ace Blahington, local hero Big Blah, and sixth-round pick Uber Blah out of Baylor. Old Blah might make the squad for his return game abilities, but isn’t a reliable option at receiver.

If this were any other team, we'd all say their WR corp sucks. The truth hurts. Moore has his hands full if Smitty can't get open.

Our receiving corps doesn't suck, they are an unknown. They may suck, but they may end up being great. We don't know, and we won't know until we see them on the field in Sept. Since writers only rewrite facts (and I say that loosely) and are afraid to have an actual opinion, our receivers will suck in their eyes until they prove otherwise.

"Karl Hankton might make the squad for his return game abilities, but isn’t a reliable option at receiver." ?????????? has he even been on our team in the last 3 years? Don't recall him ever returning any kicks. ???????? ok

Maybe he thinks our receivers are so bad that Karl Hankton might have a shot to come back and make the team? LOL

Our receiving core does suck.

Why so many people assume our offense will be so damn gooda. Is beyond me. Yes, delhomme is gone. We're all hoping for addition by subtraction. Who does moore have to rely on outside of a well covered steve smith, and some average tight ends?

The reality is our offense may struggle. Specially if our oline starts out struggling. Yes, we have talent to h|ve a good offense, and being able to lean on the run game should help. That being said, nothing is a given.

It's all about the QB. If Matt Moore steps up and can somehow finish as a Top 10 or Top 12 QB, I think this offense will be our best ever. Think about how good it was in 2008, and that was WITH Delhomme chucking up Hail Mary's to Smitty 3/4 of the time. With a somewhat-efficient QB, two dynamic RBs, a superior O-line and one receiver that can step up, they'll be fine. As for the defense..........guess we'll have to wait and see.

Let us hope for the best with our WR's,until proven otherwise.
