DMB and BTBAM are about on the same level to me... only BTBAM doesn't randomly add 7th and 9th chords to their songs with disregard to progression in order to try to sound "bluesy"

I have no idea what you're talking about...

But the people that listen to DMB/Avett Brothers are the same people that pop their collars, wear croakies and boatshoes, and listen to bullpoo/bland music...

Those are fighting words... there are two groups that go to DMB (and similar groups) concerts... those douches you refer to that think it's the cool thing to do and show up to be seen (like 90% of the yuppie pricks that live in Charlotte) or the ones that actually appreciate the band, the music and the experience.

I hate seeing DMB in Charlotte because the crowd sucks so much, but I can't justify spending the money to travel and see him elsewhere. :(

I have no such things in my house... and you probably didn't even listen to but 15 seconds and heard screaming then shut the link off.

With all of my prog leanings I think I'm supposed to like BTBAM. I mean they seem to fit right in amongst my LTE, Opeth, King Crimson, Dark Tranquility, Isis, Savatage, Dream Theater et al. but they just do nothing for me.

Sorry SLJ but I think the verdict is in and they are just not all that..

Ill add Dream Theater to the conversation. Not my favorite but a lot of the elements that could go into best. Longevity, album sales, talent, influence.

See, I can respect that submission...

I like all the bands you listed as well, but I think I am more into BTBAM because I have followed them since they got on the scene... Just witnessing their growth, and their seemingly unlimited potential...

Truth be told, they probably aren't my favorite band at the moment, or even the one that gets the most plays... But the debate was about the "best" which is speculative opinion on overall talent... For that reason, I say BTBAM...

There are a bunch of other bands I currently listen to more, but in my opinion, BTBAM is the "best"...

BTBAM doesn't make their music for people who don't/can't "get it"...
