Considering I truly don't even know what rooting does to a phone, I can wait.

the little bit of reading i've done tells me that rooting lets you set up hot spots without being charged for it. there are also some apps that can only be ran on rooted phones.

You can also set your CPU speeds to operate slower when the phone is sleeping/inactive, and speed up beyond stock speed when you wake it. Supposed to greatly increase battery life and performance. I also want to delete the stock apps that came with the phone that I can't delete now.

1. I did the original way and was fine, but it seems he's got another method that I haven't tried:

2. Install RomManager (if you enable 3rd party apps on your phone, you should never have to buy another app again if you know where to look). ROmManager installs ClockworkMod which is a good backup/recovery app.

3. Install Rom of your choice

4. Install SetCPU, Titanium Backup (if it's not a part of your custom ROM), and LauncherPro (if you want, I think it's awesome)

yea, I was at charlotte surgery center for half the day getting a procedure done on a messed up nerve. They had to put me to sleep and I am still all drugged up from going under.
