Profootballtalk.com reports that the Titans have worked out a "short-term" fix with regard to Chris Johnson's contract.

Titans are moving up a portion of RB Chris Johnson's $2.5 million escalator -- and problem averted. He'll be in camp in time.

This was a BRILLIANT move by the Titans.

It keeps their number one player happy, doesn't hurt them very much financially, but most importantly-when Johnson starts slowing down here within the next couple of seasons-as all players of his play-style are bound to do-the Titan's aren't obligated to hold onto him any longer than they have to.

Because, face it, Johnson without his speed-is a nobody.

It was a great move the Titans especially if Johnson's production falls off like most backs used as much as he was last year. They get him for cheap this year and if he struggles to do what he did last year, then will be able to use that as a negotiating sledge hammer and pay hom much less than if they had extended him now.

It's good that it worked out for both sides, but please stop with the "He deserved a pay raise" stuff. When you are scheduled to make half a million dollars, then you can't complain about being "underpaid", especially when you are the one that agreed to the contract.

If he would speak legibly he would have so many endorsement deals he wouldn't give a poo about 2.5 mil. I love the guy and I hope he figures this out in time to cash in like AP. Its like an epesode of "When keepin it real goes wrong"

Any chance that Chris Johnson will hold out of Tennessee Titans training camp likely ended Monday, when the sides struck a deal that would pay the All-Pro running back a little over $2 million this coming season, a league source told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi.

However, Johnson didn't sound so certain in a text message to the NFL Network news desk.

"I haven't agreed to ne thing yet," he said.

I love CJ and all (watched a lot of ECU games in person I knew he was special) but I will go on record as saying if the Titans don't ease off of him they will run him into the ground. He is not built to take (no RB is really) the touches they are giving him.

But they did manage to pick up Lagerette Blout who is a perfect compliment. I also like Stafon Johnson outta USC that they got but other then that I see no real #2 threat and they are both unknown commodities. Risky business when your talking about there only real offensive weapon.

A half a million dollars is a joke in the NFL. Just because you or I don't make that much money doesn't mean that NFL players that play a very high level shouldn't be making millions and millions. Just how the world works.
