Add One - Subtract One...

For those that like speculating and want a glimpse of what our roster might look like, this is for you.

And for the egotistical pricks going around threads telling other people they don't know our team if they think "x" player won't make it, how about showing everyone exactly how you think they will make the team.

Here is how I see the team looking like right now. If you have a favorite that you want on the team or if you just think someone better should be there, you would have to also subtract a player. Hence the title "Add One - Subtract One"...

OFFENSE:

WR1: Steve Smith - Kenneth Moore - Armanti Edwards (DP) *

LT: Jordan Gross

LG: Travelle Wharton

C: Ryan Kalil - Steve Justice

RG: Duke Robinson - Mackenzy Bernadeau

RT: Jeff Otah - Geoff Schwartz

TE: Jeff King - Dante Rosario - Gary Barnidge

WR2: Brandon LaFell (DP) - David Gettis (DP)

QB: Matt Moore - Jimmy Clausen (DP) - Tony Pike (DP)

FB: Tony Fiammetta - Rashawn Jackson (UDFA)

RB: DeAngelo Williams - Jonathan Stewart - Tyrell Sutton - Mike Goodson

DEFENSE:

LE: Tyler Brayton - Charles Johnson

DLT: Louis Leonard - Ed Johnson - Andre Neblett (UDFA)

DRT: Tank Tyler - Corvey Irvin

RE: Everette Brown - Greg Hardy (DP)

SLB: James Anderson - Eric Norwood (DP)

MLB: Dan Connor - Mortty Ivy

WLB: Jon Beason - Jamar Williams

LCB: Chris Gamble - Captain Munnerlyn - Brian Witherspoon

RCB: Richard Marshall - Robert McClain (DP)

SS: Charles Godfrey - Marcus Hudson #

FS: Sherrod Martin - Jordan Pugh (DP)

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: John Kasay

P: Jason Baker

KO: Todd Carter

H: Jason Baker

DS: J.J. Jansen - Gary Barnidge - Ryan Kalil

KR: Brian Witherspoon - Tyrell Sutton - Mike Goodson - David Gettis (DP) - Robert McClain (DP)

PR: Brian Witherspoon - Armanti Edwards (DP) - Robert McClain (DP) - Captain Munnerlyn - Kenneth Moore

* Slot WR

# 4th CB

My Explanations (by position):

WR: Dwayne Jarrett has already had his shot to step up and hasn't. The FO's drafting of 3 WRs displayed their lack of confidence in Jarrett. And all us fans know the team likes to keep 1 position/blocking WR in the mold of Moose and 1 speedy/playmaker receiver in the mold of Smitty. In order to have these types of receievers on our team AND keep all our receiver picks, Jarrett would have to go. Lafell and Gettis would be our position/blocking receivers while Smitty and Moore would be our speedy/play maker receievers. Gettis could also play as both types of receivers. Edwards right now is just learning the WR position and needs to stay only as the slot receiver right now.

QB: All the Cantwell chatter I believe is exactly that. Just chatter. I believe if the FO really had confidence in Cantwell, they wouldn't have wasted a pick on Tony Pike. Pike had a pretty good college career and he would be harder to stash on the PS than Cantwell. However, look for one of them to end up with a mysterious injury that lands that person on IR for the entire season.

FB: With the Hoover release it would be best to keep the 2 highest rated FBs from the past 2 drafts on the roster to see who beats out who.

RB: I think if any position has to take a cut on my roster, it would be this. In my own reasoning it would make sense to cut Sutton because all the roles he had last season have now been filled. And they FO wont cut their draft pick from last year. However, Sutton does fit the mold of the type of player Fox and the coaches love. So more than likely both of these players will stay on the roster.

DT: I think with the uncertainty of this position (though optimistic), they will more than likely keep 5 DTs this season. Neblett has far more potential than Hayden who has been owned many times by offensive guards and centers. He also is a big body that takes up space and is good against the run, which is what the FO loves.

CB: I think CJ Wilsons days have been numbered with all the fresh faces coming in this year at CB. I think Marcus Hudson will take his spot as the #4 CB as well as holding down the backup SS position. Robert McClain has really good potential and he also can contribute on returns. Witherspoon however will be the return guy we all have been waiting for. Look for him to handle both punt and kick returns this year.

S: The FO has now switched to 2 coverage safeties instead of the traditional SS and FS. These guys are the best coverage safeties we have. Francisco may be good, but he is a traditional SS.

-Jeff King TE - Good, not great blocker average everything else, maxed out potential.

-Robert McClain CB - I think RJ Stanford makes it instead. All of our CB can't be little munchkins, however it will be a real battle between those two.

+Wallace Wright WR - We brought this guy in to be a special teams ace, he will be. Not going to light it up in the passing game, but should contribute.

+RJ Stanford CB - Toss up over McClain, average size, great speed, possible gunner. And there needs to be someone with a wicked lazy eye on the team.

Robert McClain is too damn talented to not make the team but either he or RJ stanford could make the practice squad easy.

As For Wallace Wright I think Panthers Fans will be pleasantly suprised that Gettis can do everything he can only better and faster.

To The OP:

I think this is the best and most complete roster I have seen so far.

My Arguements:

Cantwell makes the team. The extra qbs were brought in before the panthers got to observe Cantwell in mini-camp. If he truly fixed his release and isn't winding up to make throws like a MLB pitcher then he makes the team. He has looked like the most consistant qb at training camp and has the strongest arm plus has been in the system longer then Pike.

I saw a lot of Cincinatti games last year. Pike doesn't have an NFL arm nor did he play in an NFL style offense. If Cantwell's release time isn't fixed then he doesn't make the team but if it really is then he could even compete for the #2 spot. Even if I think Clausen will eventually be the Qb of the future.

CJ Wilson: I'm rooting for the kid but I think you are probably right. If he lost his chance to Munnerlyn then he probably will not be around for long.

Ed Johnson: I hope he gets in shape because everything I have heard has to do with a of lack of motivation/overweight/been away from the game. With his career on the line he will need to condition his but off or we could bring in another free agent DT to take his spot. Then again we are so thin at that position who knows.

Fransisco: I know some Arizona fans who would have liked to seen this guy cut a long time ago but I think Fox will really like him just for what he brings to special teams. He will certainly have experience on his side.

John Casey: If he can still make 50 yarders this year someone needs to buy this guy a godamned coke. Even if he did botch that kick-off in the superbowl.

Dwayne Jarrett: I don't have much confidence in him but if we really do plan to run more 3-4 wide receiver sets we could keep another WR. I don't know if he is to slow getting off the line or gets jammed to easy but when you hear reports about him trucking our starting safties at mini-camp then thats a good sign. Its put up or shut up time and I'm rooting for this guy but no one on the coaching staff is giving him the benefit of the doubt. He has to earn it.

+ jarrett - I don't think they give up yet

- justice. He's not good and we have other guys that can center the ball

Aside from that I think neblet will be unseated by a tbd cut and we may pick up an ol and drop a db.

Would not be surprised to see one of the te leave.

Going to be an interesting august

This was one option I was considering for mine but having just 2 backups is risky and the lowest amount of backups Fox ever had on his team was 3. I think Gregory has the potential to do really good and possibly unseat Justice for a roster spot. Giving Mackenzy the backup C position as well instead of a true C in Justice.

subtract kenny moore or david gettis. (most likely moore)

add dwayne jarrett and wallace wright...wright is just to valuable to lose in regards to special teams and jarrett has more to bring than kenny moore. upside is much greater for him and i want to see what he can do with matt moore under center.

subtract tony pike

add hunter cantwell. cantwell would last longer than pike on the PS but cantwell is more valuable as a backup.

subtract steve justice...not really needed. if kalil goes down we are screwed anyway.

subtract andre neblett...blah

subtract mortty ivy...i've heard a lot more positive about culberson than ivy from OTAs.

add quinton culberson

add aaron francisco...to valuable an asset on special teams.
