Gantt says Peppers is probably on the way out

Ideally, I want to be in the best situation possible for myself and this organziation," Peppers said. "I’m thankful for everything they’ve done for me, and I don’t want to leave them crippled or in a bad situation, and I don’t want to do that to myself either.

"Whatever works out best for both sides is what I’m comfortable with."

can anyone really tell me where he said that he wanted out of Carolina? i just dont see it. maybe im blind. looks like to me he gave the noncommital traditional answer when a players contract is up. what do you guys want him to say? " Oh Please Lawd, let me be in Carolina one more year for the lowest contract possible, so the people on the Huddle will likes me!"

Also every one keeps saying how expensive it will be. but how much will it REALLY cost us? Not the full amount of the contract which most players never see, but the cap hit per year. i think the great Blindsite had the cap breakdown at one time. it is actually quite affordable. and dont forget there are also many incentives that can be placed in the contract that he must reach.(which is a major reason he is making so much now, he has been hitting those) we all forget when they annouce a contract amount they say it is WORTH 70 mil or 80 mil, that doesnt mean said player will get that much.

If we allow peppers to leave, what VIABLE options do we have to replace him with? i mean seriously, not just trade pep for a first and 3rd and sign nnamdi and albert haynesworth. something that we could realistically do. Honestly, there are not many options. if we franchise him, we will have to pay him a large sum for one year, we can hope some one will give us draft picks for him, but can you really count on that? also think of this, say a bad team team gives us a 1st and 3rd for him , i mean top 10 picking team in draft, for one there are not any de in the first that would warrant that high of a pick, secondly would would have to pay that rookie a large contract w/o any production on the field or knowing if he will be any good, let alone rookie holdouts and things.

oh by the way if we were to ever make a free agent splash is should definetely be on albert haynesworth. jus dreamin though.

All i am really saying is that it is bad business to let go pep at this point and time. in good business you have a backup plan, and we realy dont have one for him.

ps.

for people talking about his production, please compare him to other nfl de and see how he stacks up. also not that sacks come in bunches for other nfl de not just peppers., also notice the level of talent across each dline. also notice that most players with alot of sacks, play in a 3-4.

also for those wanting to sign fa like nnamdi and ah, there teams can franchise them also and we would have nothing to offer them. also even if we got rid of pep and jake and lucas, doesnt gaurantee we have the cap space to sign either one.

I like Peppers, but he isn't worth 100 million. If it's true he already turned down Dwight Freeny money, then time to let him move on. One problem I have with Peppers is he doesn't have that mean streak in him. If he can get 13.5 sacks being a humble guy who is shy, imagine how good he would be if he was pissed out on the field.

Peppers

Just as I have suspected... I think Pep was hoping for us to go all the way this year, and if we did, he'd give us a chance. We didn't and now he's looking to go to a consistent winner or big market. The article doesn't say that, but that's what I've always felt. I'm just ready to see what we can get out of the picks for him because if he wanted to stay he would've already made that clear. Dickhead...

Houston Texas is a BIG Market. I just hope Peppers likes Texas Style BBQ. He would be nice opposite Mario williams and I already have a name for them...THE CAROLINA CONNECTION!. Before we think about Peppers we have to get Dunta Robinson resigned.

If this franchise knew how to make consistent, good player personnel decisions, I wouldn't be at all scared to see him go. But as far as I'm concerned, what we'd get for Peppers, valuable as it may be, would probably be mishandled with the scouting department and whatnot.

the aforementioned Steelers and Pats organizations can get away with things like that, that's why they're on top of their divisions almost every year, they know how to work the system.

His production isn't solely his fault. He came out this year and had a GREAT year. Coaching goes a long way. You have to put your players in position to succeed and John Fox and company didn't do that. I think he wants to stay in Carolina but he also wants to win. He's a low key guy so money doesn't matter to him as far as I see it. He just wants to win a CHAMPIONSHIP and I don't blame him if he wants to leave because of that.

Like he said, everything was right this year. And Fox STILL couldn't get it done. All he has is extra talent around him, the only reason he's considered a GOOD coach.

If Pep wants to go that cool we will get good compensation for him. The thing is though, what team will he find that has a better chance of returning to the playoffs next year and also willing to give up so much for him. I think he will get tagged but will sign a deal my self.
