Who should be the starter Moore or Clausen?

not sure what that has to do with anything here.

Clausen wasn't the (07-08) Brees of college sports. Over a 2 yr span he didn't have the best offense only to lose games b/c the team wasn't complete.

In '07 and '08, Drew Brees put up good numbers, but didn't win a whole lot. In fact, he had a losing record. The same can be said of Jimmy Clausen while he was in college. He always put up good numbers, getting better every year, but he didn't win much. Why does one player get a pass for having an incomplete team, but another gets damned for it?

There are few arguments that can be settled with comparisons of NFL, and NCAA.

Matt Moore obviously has more pro experience than Clausen, but I think Clausen gives us the best chance to win even as a rookie. Remember some experts picked clausen to be drafted #1 overall. Clausen has all of the right tools around him to quickly develop into an elite NFL quarterback. He has an excellent running game, an excellent offensive line, and a good but unproven receiving corps. Matt Moore has proven he can play, but he sometimes leads our receivers into big hits which result in serious injuries (ex Steve Smith: Broken arm against the Giants in wk 16). Clausen is our future.

I agree: our unproven rookie quarterback paired with our unproven receivers will make for an excellent offense.

And if your biggest knock on Moore is that he caused Steve Smith's injuries, well, I don't know what to say to that.

Welcome to the forum and all, but we've discussed these topics ad nauseam.

This is one of the worse statements ever made on any board, ever.

There's an obvious parallel in what I was saying though. Clausen put up good numbers, but didn't win many games. Brees put up good numbers, but didn't win many games. The teams around them let both players down. Anyone that doesn't see that is just choosing not to.

Brees didn't just put up good numbers. Brees put up the best offensive numbers in the league during that stretch and his biggest name on offense was a 7th round draft pick. That was coming off a 3 consecutive winning seasons

So again, I don't see what Brees has to do w/ Clasuen here.

Can't you guys go ahead and kiss or something?

i am not sure what you are talking about, mr. delhommey already gave me my warning and stern run down of forum rules how i need to have the utmost respect for stupid posts. i now have nothing but great thing to say about brandon's inquisitive knowledge of the Carolina Panthers, and the rest of the NFL. I actually hope to one day sit down with Brandon and here his beliefs and theories of things otuside of football.

Clausen was in a pro style offense and really did squat in his college career. Blame it on whatever you want....but for me, Carolina drafting Jimmy doesn't erase all the concerns I had about him prior. Clausen did not really beat anyone in college and didn't win a lot in general. He has always been a big name and that has always had little to do w/ what he did on the field.

the national media likes to spin this as a "when will Clausen take over" in 2010 situation......but they don't watch Panther football. Reality is I think Jimmy might have a hard time beating Hunter for #2. Hunter has the best arm and has been groomed for this offense. Hutner has the skill set for a play action offense like this one....

Sorry dude, the Hunter Cantwell hype is directly related to the Jimmy Clausen contract negotiations. It provides leverage to the team. The guy has a great arm but you are making a The Golden Calf of Bristol sytle bet to let him run the offense. Clausen may have less experience but mechanically he is already a better fit.

It's amazing the power of a few articles has on fan's opinions. Beginning of the year, everyone agreed Cantwell was trash. He was our 5th string QB last year. Behind AJ Feeley! Now suddenly he's the next best QB we have despite what we've seen of him in the past.
