Who should be the starter Moore or Clausen?

I wasn't doggin Navy in any way. Only pointing out that Matt Moore has faced and won against NFL level competition while Clausen has only faced college level competion. And not the best college competition either.

I hope he becomes the next Joe Montana, but until he proves it on the field against NFL caliber competition, he is merely another college quarterback who still has a lot to prove.

Can we stop blaming a quarterback that was all around statistically and arguably subjectively tops in college football for playing on a sh*ty team? When you look at his numbers, not to mention the fourth quarter comebacks, what else do you expect him to do on a team without a defense? What more should he have done against Stanford after throwing 5 TDs and 0 INTs? 6 TDs and -1 INT? lol...

I agree with most others that it should be Moore's job to lose. But this W/L thing from college is getting really tired. Just look at the Heisman curse. The Heisman trophy winner is more or less the MVP of the best team in college football. Look how many of them don't pan out. Being on a great team (i.e., W/L) doesn't necessarily make you a great player. The only thing its guaranteed to do is make you look great.

I am not blaming him for anything. He probably did the best he could under the circumstances. But to automatically say he should start based purely on college play (which is what the original poster did), is ludicrous. And I would say the same thing had he played in, won and went undefeated in the SEC.

And I agree with that. I just don't agree with implying he shouldn't start because Moore won a few games last year and Clausen lost a few. It's a skill position that simply gets more credit for both wins and losses then it deserves.

Matt Moore obviously has more pro experience than Clausen, but I think Clausen gives us the best chance to win even as a rookie. Remember some experts picked clausen to be drafted #1 overall. Clausen has all of the right tools around him to quickly develop into an elite NFL quarterback. He has an excellent running game, an excellent offensive line, and a good but unproven receiving corps. Matt Moore has proven he can play, but he sometimes leads our receivers into big hits which result in serious injuries (ex Steve Smith: Broken arm against the Giants in wk 16). Clausen is our future.

Nothing to read here folks... move along....

Seriously man, you are not for real.... Right..... You dont take a rookie and throw him on the field when he can gain the experience he NEEDS on the sideline.

There is a lot that he will learn from holding a clipboard. He is not ready to hit the grass, as good as you think he might have been in college, this is the Pro's.

BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

Be paitent, he will get out there, but It is not his time. And if you want whats best for the team, be happy to see him holding a clipboard.

And whats not to say Tony Pike doesnt beat him out, can be argued that Pike won a lot bigger games in college, while piling up BIG numbers.

Pike was on a better team than Clausen and wasn't in a pro-style offense. But this isn't college anymore, its the NFL. And as of right now, Pike is the guy on the outside looking in.

Clausen was in a pro style offense and really did squat in his college career. Blame it on whatever you want....but for me, Carolina drafting Jimmy doesn't erase all the concerns I had about him prior. Clausen did not really beat anyone in college and didn't win a lot in general. He has always been a big name and that has always had little to do w/ what he did on the field.

the national media likes to spin this as a "when will Clausen take over" in 2010 situation......but they don't watch Panther football. Reality is I think Jimmy might have a hard time beating Hunter for #2. Hunter has the best arm and has been groomed for this offense. Hutner has the skill set for a play action offense like this one....

Was Drew Brees a bad QB in '07 and '08?

not sure what that has to do with anything here.

Clausen wasn't the (07-08) Brees of college sports. Over a 2 yr span he didn't have the best offense only to lose games b/c the team wasn't complete.

I'm not saying Clausen should start over Moore anytime soon but to say Clausen didn't do squat while at ND is absurd. Once again, Clausen played football at ND at a time when they're running game sucked and they had little to no defense and was still able to compile some incredible passing stats. He can't win the games by himself, it takes the rest of the team stepping up and doing their part.

Did Colt McCoy win more games than Clausen in college???? Sure did, but guess what, we took Clausen(48th) over McCoy(85th) based on his talent and his upside, it didn't mean much of poo to ANYONE that McCoy was touted as the most winningest college QB in history or whatever.

Just sayin'.
