Who should be the starter Moore or Clausen?

Matt Moore has proven he can play, but he sometimes leads our receivers into big hits which result in serious injuries (ex Steve Smith: Broken arm against the Giants in wk 16).

This has got to be one of the craziest statements ever in the football forum.

Matt Moore is just a game manager. Jimmy Clausen is a franchise quarterback. We dont need to waste up any more time with Matt Moore. We need to develop Clausen as quickly as possible, so we can make strides for the Superbowl.

Even if that may be true. I'd rather not put Clausen in as a starter JUST yet. Maybe in a year or two, but I'd rather Clausen sit the bench for his first year or so. Unless Matt Moore absolutely stinks this upcoming season at QB. *knock on wood*

Matt Moore obviously has more pro experience than Clausen, but I think Clausen gives us the best chance to win even as a rookie. Remember some experts picked clausen to be drafted #1 overall. Clausen has all of the right tools around him to quickly develop into an elite NFL quarterback. He has an excellent running game, an excellent offensive line, and a good but unproven receiving corps. Matt Moore has proven he can play, but he sometimes leads our receivers into big hits which result in serious injuries (ex Steve Smith: Broken arm against the Giants in wk 16). Clausen is our future.

Last year, Moore played against and beat NFL teams. Clausen lost to Navy. Until we see how the rookie can do against NFL competition, this isn't even a question.

Also, which "experts" picked Clausen to be drafted number one? If thats true (which I doubt), those so called experts sure had a lot of crow to eat on draft day.

Only a minor clarification: Claussen also lost to Navy in 2007. I would also remind you Navy was 26-14 for the 3 seasons from 2007-2009 while Jimmy Claussen was 16-21 over the same 3 seasons.

I wasn't doggin Navy in any way. Only pointing out that Matt Moore has faced and won against NFL level competition while Clausen has only faced college level competion. And not the best college competition either.

I hope he becomes the next Joe Montana, but until he proves it on the field against NFL caliber competition, he is merely another college quarterback who still has a lot to prove.

In your quote above,I believe you have Matt confused with Jake when you are talking about leading WR's into big hits.

The DB hitting Steve Smith at the goalline and breaking his arm had nothing what-so-ever to do with the way Matt threw the ball.
