just venting...

i don't post here on the forums very much. i'm more of a lurker but i just wanted to get a few things off of my chest to maybe help get this bad taste out of my mouth...

it would be easy to point the finger at jake and blame him for the game last night but in all reality there was enough blame to go around. i'll list a few in no particular order...

1. like all teams we live and die with our QB. when jake is on he's really good. when he's bad he's terrible as we all saw last night. this year he seemed to minimize the bad jake sightings. the tampa bay and oakland games come to mind. i was at the oakland game and seeing one of his bad games is worse in person than watching it on tv. i can't imagine how it must have felt seeing his performance at home in person.

2. the coaching staff is supposed to prepare the players and put them in a position to succeed. WTF happened last night?

offense - the 1st drive was beautiful. we ran the ball and dumped the ball off short. they kept calling pass plays even though everyone could clearly see that jakes timing was off. after the 1st couple interceptions while the game was still some what close, why not go back to what got us there? the running game. everyone will keep saying the cards shut down our run game, i'm gonna contest that WE shut ourselves down in the 1st half. it almost seemed like the coaches wanted to turn us into a passing team overnight and if it had worked they would've looked like geniuses but they failed to adjust after it didn't work.

defense - what can i say that hasn't been said yet? TRGO is a piece of crap! with bolden out, anyone with a pulse could see fitz was the guy we had to stop. too many times he was allowed to come all the way accross the field for an easy reception. a few blown coverages were one thing but was it me or were we in a soft zone most of the night? why were we not manned up on him all night with help over the top? if breaston beat us it'd be different but the guy who we all knew could beat us did because we let him. also, why did we let warner have all night to pass? we obviously weren't doubling up on fitz so it's not like we didn't have an extra guy. the few times we did blitz in the 2nd half it seemed to bother him at least a little. sending a 4 man rush that wasn't generating enough pressure is terrible.

something has got to happen. i really believe we had the talent to win the superbowl and with the pending free agent status' or gross and peppers and another passing year the proverbial window for winning a superbowl is slowly closing. we need a change in philosophy. i'm not saying necessarily to dump the coaching staff but if that's what needs to happen i'm sure that no one could argue. whatever we need to do to get away from this conservative non adjusting stubborness maybe this is the game the big cat needed to finally see to notice it.

take it for what it's worth and if some of the things i've said doesn't make sense or if i haven't expressed it the right way i'm sorry because i didn't proof read it. my mind is too scrambled out of frustration and sadness right now because like 26 other teams now, we have to get ready for the offseason and "wait until next year". :mad2:

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
