They were stuck since Mikko picked Florida or Dallas… Florida wasn’t happening at all. The Canes were backed into a corner and keeping him wasn’t an option with how toxic it had become. 
 

also Stankoven is a top 6 level player, he’s just really young and hasn’t played in the NHL much. He also fits Rod’s system really well.
