Inception talk - Spoilers inside - Do not read if you have not seen...

Driving to the coast today I thought about this new angle. Michael Caine. Perhaps he helped to do a bit of inception on his own by suggesting to Leo at the school to go back home and the reason why. He then brought in the girl to construct things and she was on Leo like a cheap suit about his wife. Much like getting Cillian to sabotage his own sub conscience, maybe thats what happened to Leo.

Hmm

Yup, that is why it's reality in the end.

TLDR: I don't know why idiots are having flamewars over the ending about how the top was spinning or maybe about to topple over or whatever. It's stupid, and misses the point of the movie.

FU it was reality in the end. :boxing_smiley:

The first scene is the same scene as a scene near the end of the movie. Basically, the entire movie is a flashback. Cobb was trying to remember why he needed to come find Saito, then when Saito said "I need to honor our arrangement", it all came back to Cobb.

Right, that's why it reality in the end....

*sigh*

I agree with all of this, except that's what makes me think he's still asleep. His kids were in the exact same position wearing the exact same clothing from all of his dreams when he came home? And Cobb's father just happened to be at the airport (having to fly from France) to meet him, being that Cobb just hopped on a last minute flight from Sydney to Australia? It came together too perfectly at the end to be reality.

But his father was in France in a dream.

Bumping this sh*t up cause I realized something.

Cobb's totem wasn't the top. That was his wife's, and they always talked about how each person's totem HAD to be unique.

Cobb's totem was his wedding ring. In the dream state, he has the ring on because he's with Mal. Seriously, if you watch it again, the ring is on his finger in dream sequences, but there is no ring in real life.

The ending scene?? No ring, so theoretically, it was real life.
