Bradshaw rips Clausen's throwing

The other important point is that Bradford came from a spread offense, where it's easy to make an otherwise mediocre QB look like a stud.

Hate to say it but you could insert Tony Pike in here as well.

I hate spread offenses. They have infected college football like the plague because coaches realized they could do more working with raw talent than developing skills.

The spread is essentially a trickery offense that only really works against a defense that can be tricked = no NFL defense. When a good spread team plays another good spread team in college, the team with the better defense always wins. Just ask Tony how his 12-O team did in their last game..

Terry Bradshaw is a toothless hedgehog. The most overrted HOF of all time, shouldnt even be in the HOF. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Clausens throwing ability. Watch this and tell me there is:

LOL, if that's a slow release I'd hate to see a fast release...

Yup, just wait till you see The Golden Calf of Bristol in his first NFL game... it's gonna be a comedy of errors.

Randy Moss meet Duante Culpepper

Culpepper still put up decent numbers after Moss left with no name guys. Well he did till he met Gamble that is.....

Have you watched the Panthers the last seven years or so?

Have you? Smith looked terrible last season till Matt stepped in and everyone of those WRs looked better. The year Smith went down with a broke leg Delhomme,Moose, and Colbert put up good numbers. Also look a the Vikings before Brett and look at the Vikings after he came and its night and day.

I think you're thinking of someone else. Through his first six games in 2005 (first year post-Moss) Culpepper had 6 TDs and 12 picks. I remember because prior to that season, someone on here was telling me how much better he was going to be than Delhomme.

I will never hate Terry Bradshaw. He was a cowboy killer and a warrior on the field, so he will always be OK in my book, whether I agree with everything he says or not.

Also liked Bradshaw on the field, but objectively speaking, he is just plain one of the dumbest sportscasters out there. Maybe the dumbest since Theismann fell from grace.

As far as his Panther accuracy, he once reported that the Panthers would be dumping Jake Delhomme and using their top pick on a quarterback. "But they did" you say. Yes, in 2010. Bradshaw said it in 2006.

(insert "ahead of his time" joke here)

Here is my take on Clausen at ND:

He didn't have good pocket awareness. He gets jittery with happy feet, and sometimes will scramble for no reason. That won't fly in the pros.

He doesn't consistantly shift his weight properly from his back foot to his front foot during his throwing motion. Especially when he feels pressure, is throwing the deep ball, or at random times on short and medium routes. The good news is that I think he can throw the ball a lot better that what you see in his ND highlights and lowlights. He just needs to get more torque from his lower body. In short, I think Clausen can actually throw faster and further with help from our QB coach. Jake had the same problem when he felt pressure, he didn't step into his throw.

Look at Clausen's face. It's odd looking isn't it? That's because he has a small face, and usually that comes with small hands. Clausen's hands are only 9 inches from thumb to pinkie. Compare that to:

Brett Favre - 10.375

Drew Brees - 10.25

Donovan McNabb - 10

Colt McCoy - 9.75

Matt Ryan - 9.5

Chad Henne - 9

Michael Vick - 8.5

Bad weather conditions may cause ball security problems for Clausen. Also, he won't be able to put as much zip on the ball as say Farve or Brees, but that's not breaking news.

I have no idea why Bradshaw has a problem with his throwing mechanics. I suppose he's putting more torque on his body than some of the bigger QBs, but so what?

Besides some of the discussion about his intangibles, my biggest concern is whether or not Jimmy is shell-shocked by his experience at ND (aka David Carr 2.0).

No chance. He got better the more time he spent in the system. He was under pressure all day, every day, but still managed to get the ball to his playmakers. It toughened him up without having a negative effect on his development.

Being shell shocked is when being pressured all day (and taking hits) means you fail to get the ball to your playmakers (or fuging TURN YOUR BACK to the line of scrimmage and run away! I hate David Carr).

It seems to me like Terry Bradshaw is just trying to stir the pot and get some attention by throwing out an uproved opinion.

If Clausen does indeed have a throwing problem, which i highly doubt,i feel confident QB coach Rip Scherer can correct it.
