Beason confirms move to the weakside...

He said that they wanted him to play the will so he is going to play the will. They even had an entire segment about him moving there and beason told them the things he would be doing differently at his new position. I never doubted for a second that beason expects to play there when the season starts. To me he confirmed it...anyone else see anything different?

They wanted him to play will just during practice or for the season?

i'm really interested to see what happens, it just means they're gonna be shifting coverages more and get more creative with how they deploy. Beason will obviously switch back to middle with the Nickel and we do run alot of nickel.

Not necessarily. When you take out a linebacker and put in another DB, it is typically the SAM. Then the other 2 linebackers just play halves so it isn't really the middle it is one side of the field or the other. Other times team take out a DT and put one of the linebackers on the line to rush or drop back in coverage depending on what the plan is.

Well if he did, then I guess Mortty Ivy will be the backup MLB. Personally I dont like the move at all. Beason is the best 4-3 MLB in the game right now. Jamar Williams and Dan Connor should've been the ones competing for WLB, but whatever.

I really thought he said "this season" but don't hold me to that. I wish I would have recorded it.

Of course it is for the season. Why would you practice one thing and do something different when the season starts. If a guy like Williams is much better than expected they might switch him back to the middle but they will start out with him at Will and see what happens. It may be as much about getting Connors in the game as anything though.

Williams yes, Connors no. Connors is not nearly good enough in coverage to play the Will.

So, rather than have our start linebackers all know our defense, and be able to execute it, a lot of you would rather have somebody playing that is still learning the defense, and ya don't even know if they would make the same impact.

I guess I'm one of the few who understand why the coaches want to play beason at wlb. He is a beast of a linebacker, and he will conntinue to be for us.

Brooks was the nfl's best mlb as well?

On almost any other team he would have played Mike, but in a system very similar to ours he was the Will and one of the best linebackers in NFL history. It's the most important linebacker position on the field in our system, and Beason is the best fit for it.
