that's why you get a desert eagle. Even in an accident you increase the probability of over-penetration and subsequently, the death of someone who deserves it.

If you're looking for a .22 for plinking, I'd suggest a Ruger Mark II. Its reliable and not all that expensive. I'd do some looking around though, go to some different stores, see what fits your hand (I have large hands, so some .22's give me trouble), and just pick whatever you like. And if you're worried about feeding issues, then just get a revolver.

I own a Walther ppk and have had a p99 and they both jammed a lot. Only reason i kept the ppk is because it looks cool. I've got a glock 26 now and i love it. Shot many innocent people with it.

For a first gun I would go with a 9mm Beretta or Glock. You cant go wrong with those two guns and they both shoot very smooth. Besides you will almost pay just as much for 22s as you will for 9mm. Once you get a fill for those go out and get you a .45ACP. There is nothing better for home protection in a handgun.

I have a Kel-Tec P-11 9mm. It's small, compact, and easy to carry. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it has a long trigger pull. But if you're just purchasing it for self defense, that really isn't an issue.

For a great plinker (and small game pistol), I would get the Ruger Mark III Target with the 5.50" bull barrel. Very accurate, reliable, and fun to shoot .22 pistol.
