It may be called a bargain bin type of FA but Andre Cisco is on my radar.  I mean he was in Jacksonville so we may have not seen his best. Still young and will be much cheaper than the San fran guy with an alphabet soup name or Holland.

Safety in the NFL is a tricky evaluation that depends on the things you want your safeties to do.  Deep zone, run support, man, nickel, etc.  I don't know much about it, but I have heard some NFL safeties talking about the fit.  I am not that familiar with what we expect our safeties to do, but for some reason, some fairly established safeties were not very established here last year.   I think I struggle because the S is often out of the picture on TV.  I might need to get a wider screen to be able to see them.  Found Footage Video GIF by Eternal Family

the more I think about this the less enthusiastic I am about it. I would much rather spend money on the defensive line and then get a second tier free agent rather than make our big splash on a safety.

In an ideal world we end up with an edge (chase young or harold landry), pass rushing 3-4 end (maybe milton williams or allen) and a true NT as our three big splashes.

Sign a second tier safety prospect and then use our second or third rounder on a safety.

This, big time I read some piece on him and how the Panthers run cover-3 as base and that's where Cisco was best at too. He should be cheap, or cheaper than those 15-20 million safety.

    • Yeah but jumping up in the draft to get a project #2/3 WR is just plain not smart. I am down on XL because the thought was that he could be a potential #1 WR and he has been anything but that so far. Also, the idea of him as a slot is even more upsetting because you pass on several more productive slot guys(McConkey being the most obvious) that were TREMENDOUSLY more NFL ready. I was not a fan of the XL move at the time and I am not a fan of the decision in short term hindsight either. He is just simply going to have to be a guy that proves it on the field to me. McMillian was my #1 WR in this draft and I was a pro-McMillian guy. However, he isn't gonna get treated with baby gloves either. We are in the era of rookie WR's putting up 1k+ yd seasons with regularity. He's going to(barring injury) have to be one of the top 2 or 3 WR's in this class in terms of production. And that's being very generous to him. He really needs to be THE guy from this class. It isn't like he is gonna have a lot of guys taking catches away from him.
    • Thought this was an interesting moment of candor. See the 2:00 min mark. TD said he made the decision that he wanted T-Mac as our 1st round pick back in January. Dan chimed in and said he made the decision early as well (indicating the same time frame).
