You have to consider the fact that the coach is interested in calming players down before the draft.  The Saints just gave Juwan Johnson a 3-year, $30m deal.  He is trying to prepare Johnson for the Warren pick.  This tells me that they were possibly not targeting a QB in round 1---until Carr's announcement.

Just interesting stuff--nothing earth shattering here.  If their list was down to 3 players, Sanders just went to the top of it.

If they cut him now its 80 million in dead cap this season....... once they cut him next season its 60 million. Sure they can kick the can and re-up with him for 2026. They choose poorly, very. They could have cut him this year and SAVED 11 million, but nahhhhhh sign 88 year old cam Jordan and MLB davis. While using this carr saving to spend future money on kamara and young. It was time for the reset and pay up. Huge mistake even if Carr can play. 

They have a 100 million bill incoming no matter what, unless they what to pay it in 2027 by resigning 35 year old Carr, 37 year Cam Jordan, 35 year old Davis and others.

Nearly as dumb as giving a playoff choking 35 year old QB coming off a achilles injury 100 million in guaranteed.

IMO that only works if your team is winning or perennial play playoff contenders. They have been a 7 win team the last four years.
