I heard it was more than 20 at the time.  However, it did cause a rumor to spread, and by asking the player about it, it gives him the opportunity to explain why and how he lost the weight, dispelling a rumor that could cost him millions.  If he can't, then that might suggest there is some validity to the accusations. If you were innocent of the allegation, you would sure want the press to open that door.

Link to said rumor?  Thanks

How would you ask the question?  Specially

Yes---- "You showed up to the combine having lost nearly 30 pounds in about 80 days, based on your listed weight vs. Ohio State on November 30.  Why did you lose the weight and how did you do it?  ..... There are unsubstantiated rumors circulating  around the combine that are dangerous because they can hurt prospects before the draft. One such rumor is that the weight loss is related to getting off PEDs; I am sure you have heard it.  Would you like to say something to address these rumors and clear your name at this time?"

For what its worth, I asked Jim Valvano questions about the accusations against him at NC State and he answered me without getting upset.  I asked Coach Bob Waters if it were true that he had Lou Gerhig's disease before it came out.  He was truthful with me.  I asked him if he would like my help breaking the news or if he would prefer me to keep it quiet.  He asked me to keep it quiet and not report it.  I kept his secret.  So I don't need your pointers about asking the tough questions as a journalist.

You need tact and respect for the person you are interviewing.  I see how you did not understand it.

And graham answered questions about the weight loss

Not to Joe Person, and that was my point--the rumors were not part of an article--it was a rumor as I stated.  The rumor circulated to such a degree there were no articles stating that Graham is not on PEDs--that would almost damage him-but there were articles about scouts being "alarmed by the drastic weight loss."  Now, if you were around athletics on a high level at any time in your life beyond Madden, you would understand the possible implications of that statement.  Of course they are not going to print an unconfirmed rumor, but there were Huddlers who mentioned it and I can't recall where I heard it--but if I heard it, others did too.  For example:

While there could be other reasons for concern, the word "alarmed" is used, which suggests something more dire or serious. Again, any good reporter would not write an article about a rumor because mentioning the rumor is nearly as damaging, but they would ask the person about the rumor to give that person a chance to respond.  If they choose not to respond, you do not write about it.

Now, I realize this trolling thing is what you do, and if you ask others, they will tell you they heard the rumor too.

I have given you more time than you deserve.

So you have no link from the entire internet that connects graham to peds?   But you've heard the rumors somehow.   Yeah that checks out.   But you as a professional would have asked him about an unsubstantiated rumor.   Man I am seeing a through line of why you are not still a reporter

A chemist

So you have been a footballcoach, reporter and now professor.  Interesting.    And yet you still cannot link anything connecting gtaham to steroids.   You may need to log off for a bit as the voices in your head are getting louder.   He was asked about the weight loss and gave an answer.  But somehow you equated this to peds and scolded person for not asking about it.    Yeah man it's time to walk away

Chemist--where--your basement?

And yes, I was a college football player, coach, journalist, and then teacher--school administrator--professor.  I have written 2 nonfiction books (listed on Amazon) and a novel that is being published later this year.  It is a compliment that you don't believe it.

I did not say I validated to rumor--I heard the rumor and I would ask Graham about it if I had the chance--I am not seeking your validation.   Ask Basbear where he heard it.  Now stop being a little bitch.image.thumb.png.1824821f82c69c3f8e3d7596b9836d33.png

Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham raised some eyebrows at the NFL Scouting Combine this past weekend when he weighed in 24 pounds under his listed playing weight.

However, ESPN's Jordan Reid reported that NFL teams aren't particularly concerned with Graham potentially being undersized, as his skills still make him one of the top prospects in the 2025 draft.

"Graham surprisingly weighed 296 pounds at the combine after being listed at 320 at Michigan, but the scouts I talked to weren't fazed," Reid stated. "His hand speed and ability to deconstruct blocks are among the best in a deep defensive line class, and his 19 pressures were tied for 21st in the FBS among defensive tackles."
