I would be SHOCKED if we got that type of offer for #8.

Keep in mind, per the (admittedly imperfect) draft pick value chart, #1 is worth over double #8 (3000 vs. 1400). It is very much an apples vs. oranges comparison.

won't be that much.  Huge difference between trading to 1 than 8.

21 to 8 is about 600 points.

9 to 1 is about 1650.

Some similar trades that have taken place:

  • 2019 - PIT trades #20, #52, and a 2020 third-round pick to DEN for #10 to select Devin Bush, LB, Michigan
  • 2021 - CHI trades #20, 2022 first-rounder, 2021 fifth-rounder, and a 2022 fourth-rounder to NYG for #11 to select Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
  • 2022 - NO trades #18, #101, #237, 2023 first-round pick, and 2024 second-round pick to PHI for #16, #19, and #194. They then traded #16, #98, and #120 to WAS to move up to #11 and select Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State (WAS took Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State at #16)

What about when the chiefs traded up malhomes? I think it was 27+3rd+future 1st for 10th overall, it was hidden that QB was the target. We know if QB are in discussion, the price goes up and at times the chart is tossed out.

600 points using the rich hill model, I feel you must included the future 1st, which is devalued due to its one full year away and Pitt will be drafting 26-30.

Pitts 21st + 3rd + 2026 1st, I honestly want MORE. I don't think its crazy if you are talking QB. They need to at least toss in 2026 3rd and a decent player for me to agree. There's NO other option for them or other teams wanting dart or sanders, so pay up!!

Nailed it!

Chiefs got #10 overall (and selected Mahomes) and sent the Bills #27, #91, and a 2018 first-rounder (ended up being #18) to pick the QB that has kept them out of the Super Bowl. 💀

Tbf to the Bills tho, they turned those picks into Tre'Davious White, Dion Dawkins, Tremaine Edmunds, and Siran Neal. Three out of four hits ain't bad at all, but that one for one for KC... ooh wee mayne.

Pure luck pays off, recently Ive had poor recall...

If mahomes didn't land with Reid or another offense guru, those Bills players would be the better choice.

I think something has been framed out, just depends on how those first 7 picks go. Saints could trade up and wreck the plan, but they are trading up for sanders/dart so LOLOLOLOLOL.

You’re tripping I hear what you’re saying but you’re not thinking of the benefits that trade gives us. We can then move around in the second round or late in the first to grab a specific player we covet like M Starks late in the 1st. Let me clarify if we’re at 21 we grab W Nolen or K Grant then trade up late in the 1 or early in the second giving up next years second for M Starks or T Amos there so much that can happen with that additional ammo.
Allowing us still so much leverage in next years draft as well with two first rounders we’d be dam crazy not to take a trade like that it’s not the big haul or heavy amount of picks we’re hoping for but it’s gets us multiple players especially ones we’ve seemed to taken a liking to like Nolen etc along with the safety from SC. or even a Luther B or James P early in the second. This nice influx in talent would help way more than a player like Jalon W. because of his high bust rate or probability  to bust….you know what I mean.
We need players we all know that those extra picks allow us to give up something this year to add key pieces from the 29-40 range that we may really like and have a need for (T Amos) and it not hurt as much because we’re stacked in round one of 26. Which could also be a pick one trade one scenario next year giving us more ammo to manipulate the draft to a winning situation for us long term. Al that to say we desperately need to be actively seeking a trade because we could add real talent in multiple spots this year and next with that current trade your opposing.

If we can land one of Grant/Nolen and Starks/Emmanwori without giving up a ton of capitol I would jump all over it.

I think if we do drop back to 21 we probably draft Emmanwori first if he is there and then get whichever DL/Edge is left over with our next pick

I’ve reset my wants:

I just want Jaylin Noel.

They can have the head scratching mid rounders per usual and I won’t be disappointed if we land Mykel in R1. But find a way to get Noel.

I like Noel a lot--and the other Iowa St WR-- another Jaylin/Jalen--Jalen "KC*" Royals from Utah State.

*I made up the nickname. It just came to me, and it has a ring to it.  I might get it copyrighted.

Any particular reason Noel over Higgins?

I haven't looked at any WRs this year but have heard nothing but good things about the Iowa State duo.

Noel plays big and physical combined with the short area quickness we need. He knows how to get open versus zone and man..and quickly.  For being 5’11 he outplays 6’1 corners and knows how to get the ball.

Just a damn quick guy with a super sound game, sharp cuts, can break a big play, and plays the game with supreme confidence. Just love his aggressive nature.  He has a blend that is not super common which is the feisty/bursty quick cutting type but he’s very physical with DBs and can matchup outside no problem.  He’s not this slot-only type that will shrink in the big leagues, he plays bigger. We also just don’t have that with Coker or XL, he fits them well and can play all 3 spots.

Higgins is the ex-basketball prototype at WR that doesn’t always translate. He’s not as refined and there’s more projection needed with him.

Royals has some stuff to work on, a bit refinement in the route running department. Also some hands issues. Was a gadgety guy, but has the skills to become more.
