Stern fines Gilbert 100K for his LeBron remarks

There is more than one truth in this whole thing and several have been stated here.

By the same token Gilbert was wrong for making his temper tantrum statements, Jesse Jackson was just as wrong with his feeble attempt to make this a race issue. And LeBron was completely wrong hand-in-hand with ESPN to put on full display his narcissistic, self-absorbed belief that he can do no wrong and that he's bigger and better than the NBA.

Good. Gilbert is a WHINY B_TCH.

And regardless of whether you are willing to accept the Jesse Jackson slaveowner reference, the truth is Gilbert's comments did put LeBron James' life in danger. How many threats do you think James has received since his announcement.

Gilbert's comments should have attempted to DIFFUSE instead of INCITE the anticipated response. He's no better than the REICH-wing radio idiots like Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck, whose comments drive people to kill abortion doctors or issue threats to the "SOCIALIST" President who has a deep seated hatred for white people (like his Mother and Grandmother).

Too many people are DUMB ENOUGH to believe it all.

Agreed.

Stern did the right thing, but fining this clown. Dude got rejected, and didnt know how to handle getting rejected. I dont know what player in their right mind would want to play for a ho like Gilbert.

Shock Jock Stern weighs in, backs Jesse, relates to LeBron

Howard Stern agrees with Jesse Jackson that LeBron James' contract with Cleveland was tantamount to slavery and that Dan Gilbert is the equivalent of a jilted slave master.

Howard Stern launched into a tirade against Dan Gilbert to open the Howard Stern Show after a two week vacation. Stern exclaimed Gilbert should be tarred and feathered for his public statement slamming James for signing a contract with the Miami Heat.

“He’s a f--ing lunatic," howled Stern of Gilbert. "They should take away the franchise from him. They should strip him naked and tar and feather him.”

Stern also took a rare side-by-side stance with the Reverend Jesse Jackson. Jackson stated Monday: "His [Dan Gilbert's] feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship -- between business partners -- and LeBron honored his contract."

Howard Stern said he was in complete agreement with the Reverend for once in his career:

"Here’s how I look at it," said Stern. "LeBron James is an extraordinary basketball player and suddenly in the slavery system of the NBA--and I call it ‘slavery’ because it’s high paid slavery but nevertheless they have this salary cap nonsense. Here’s a guy who’s devoted himself to basketball--notice the owners don’t have salary caps. They can make as much money as they want with their franchise."

Stern likened the LeBron James public indictment to his own bitter divorce with Viacom. "I'm leaving, they sue me-for no g-----n reason."

"What the f--- did [LeBron James] do wrong?" asked Stern. "He’s a basketball player who made a s---load of money for this owner--for mas’sa....And the people of Cleveland--shame on you--anybody listening from Cleveland."

That is why he did it. I said it the second it came out that it was nothing more than a plea for the fans of Cleveland to not abandon the team in totality. He was at risk of losing his entire fan base with one departed free agent. He took a quick and decisive, albeit controversial, action and tried to milk a little positive out of a totally negative situation for his franchise.

I don't support all of what he said, but this was a spin game from the start to get people thinking he was "one of them", and hurt just as badly as they were so they would come together in this difficult time to support the team.

It was a brilliant piece of strategy.

Someone should ask Gilbert if Zydrunas Ilgauskas is a traitor.

Of course he isnt. Not a peep of negativity will come Z's way for doing what other free agents do. The wanting to see him fail and deep seeded resentment will not be there for him as it is for the King.

Are you seriously comparing the way Z left to the way Lebron left??

Has any player in any sport in history ever had a live hyped up special to rip his hometown and former teams hearts out??

How can you not understand people are upset about the WAY he left, not just the fact that he left.

-I cant understand the deep seated resentment you have. You're not from Cleveland and are not Cavs fan. Why do you hate him again?

-I can understand that a fake Sean Hannity type like you feels like a player like LeBron owes you something and should put your interests above his own.

-I can understand you sympathizing with a bunch of dumbasses in Ohio and an idiot owner that will be out of sports in a few years simply because he is a rich white guy, even though he was dead wrong. Had Bob Johnson or MJ said what Gilbert said about Matt Carroll or some other white player we know who you'd be in here defending, and it aint ownership. LOL.

-I can understand you using LeBron's 'special' as a smokescreen for hating him, even though you watched every second of it. Making you a hypocrite.

-I can understand you will never donate 2.5 mill to the Boys & Girls Club or put 5 kids (who aint yours) thru college so its easy for you to talk shyt.

LeBron unlike Gilbert never trashed him in his special, he didnt trash Cleveland, nor the Cavs. He simply felt and stated that he could not win there and was moving on. He didnt burn any Cavs jerseys on his special, he didnt call the fans of Cleveland cowards, he didnt say management quit on him. He simply exercised his right to move on as a free agent. People knew about the special 3 days before it aired, and no one complained about it then. Its only after he goes to MIA, all the sudden its on level with him commiting a crime. Get over it! I knew some of yall hated seeing young black dudes command so much power and respect, but geez.

LOL, its really sad that you live in a world where you either hate something or love something and everyone who doesnt agree with KT is either a "hater" or racist.

It tells a lot about you and makes you look really bad, but you can continue to live in your little fantasy world where everything is white or black. Thats your problem, not mine. I live in a world where I dont see people are colors but as human beings, its a shame you cant join me because race DOMINATES your world. I remember back in the season you called people who didnt like the Bobcats racists, its really sad that you live this way.

Btw, I didnt watch that live ego driven "special", but of course you know everything about me.

Its really sad you live in a world where a basketball player changing jobs pisses you off more than the economy or oil spills. You used to be a really good poster here, but you've changed, and for the worse. I can take people disagreeing with me, I just cant take people throwing insults at me or belittling me because they do. Something you've reduced yourself to on this board lately. Ever since I came out in support of the Bobcats founder, you've turned into this neo-political windbag that is mad at the world. You will hold a grudge for life with me since I support our team's founder. And then you claim to be a "Bobcats fan". LOL.

I never called people who dont root for the Bobcats racist, so please dont reduce yourself to a liar as well. If you didnt watch the special, how do you know he dissed Cleveland? Why are you so angry at him? Lie much?

I am not pissed at Lebron at all, I am annoyed when people cant understand why the Cavs fans are upset and claim its all racism ( Jesse Jackson).

I am not trying to insult you, I'm just calling things the way I see them. I think your a good guy, you just get caught up in things from a race perspective, which isnt a smart way to live life imo.

And I like talking Bobcats basketball with you and others on here but that wont stop me from giving my opinion on things. Why do you have to make this political, I sure havent at any time and you have no clue what side of the aisle I am on in political manners.

Btw, I totally remember you calling people racist for not supporting the Cats back in the fall of 09, I called you out on it and you apologized for saying those things. I guess you dont remember that, right??

Or maybe I see and experience things different from you. Things you wouldnt understand or have no parts of. Instead of so easily dismissing that, because it makes you insecure about your own feelings, how bout respecting and appreciating that you can hear a different take.

You made it political in the other thread dissing me and EC123 and yapping about "race cards". If you dont want people to mistake you for some wannabe Glenn Beck angry at the world type, dont act like it. Just like if people dont want to be called a "thug" they shouldnt do thuggish things.

Nah, I dont remember that at all. I remember me supporting our founder and defending him, while you sided with those who didnt and tried to call me out for supporting him. I remember you throwing lil disses and saying slick poo about me ever since then.
