Bobcats close to trading Diaw, Chandler, aquiring Calderon

You can still put up stats and be overrated and soft. IMO Pau Gasol is both.

I am a huge laker hater and cant stand any of them but its absurd to say Pau is overrated.

Before they traded from him, they missed the playoffs and got knocked out in two straight first rounds. Since they got him, they have been to 3 straight finals and won two, with basically the same team before they got Pau.

He is imo the best offensive big man in the league and I would take him over every C in the NBA besides Howard.

I would probably take Lopez over Gasol just for the fact that Lopez is a true center but yea Gasol is nowhere near overrated or soft anymore....he was soft in Memphis he was soft the second half of the 08 season in L.A. but he hasn't been soft since the 08-09 season began....

Yea, thats probably a good call. Esp since Brook is much younger.

I get pissed when I hear his name because he HAD to be the pick over DJ in 08, such absurd we didnt take him. He was on my fantasy team last year and he is a beast and will only get better.

But I still think Gasol is a top 3 C, no doubt.

I'm a die hard Lakers fan being born in L.A. but now that I live in Charlotte I follow the Bobcats as well. I couldn't believe it when they passed up Lopez to draft Augistine, my jaw literally hit the floor. I can certainly understand why Bobcats fans wouldn't want to hear his name....

I was so happy that he was available and I knew he would be the pick.

Our FO has done some great trades over the year but our drafting has been the worst in the league. We could have a crazy good team had drafted Granger over May in 05, Roy or Gay over Morrison in 06 ( at least we now have TT), and Lopez over DJ in 08 plus Batum or Lee over Frenchy.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

After more research..... So far I believe our bobcats have improved offensively, but regressed defensively.... But I do think it may be more important for this team to be able to score and have different ways to score, I think that was a huge issue for us last season... scoring consistently that is.

something from the NBA trade machine that I got to work, even though it is very unrealistic.

Hawks get:

Carmelo Anthony-SF

Ty Lawson-PG

Future 2nd rd pick from Raptors

Bobcats get:

Jose Calderon-PG

Future 2nd rd pick from Raptors

Raptors get:

Boris Diaw-PF

Mike Bibby-PG

Maurice Evans-SF

Nuggets get:

Marvin Williams-SF

Marcus Banks-PG

Future 1st and 2nd rd pick from Atlanta.

of course, I threw in the picks, so it would be even.

overall i like this trade, although calderon is a liability on d he takes care of the ball on the other end and we play at a tempo that will better suit his skills, with the money we now have under the lux tax limit we can resign ratliff and maybe another banger and play center by com. like last year

2009-2010 Bobcats > 2010-2011 Bobcats

Anyone who thinks Calderon (and Evans) makes the Bobcats any better than they were last year is smoking crack.

Go get a Center worth something.

Let see Felton and his stupid plays or an upgrade on offense and passing in Calderon. I'll take Calderon....

Calderon is a guy who should average 14-15 points and 9 assist a game... his defense isn't as good as Felton, but Brown should be able to improve that somewhat. That's a big improvement over Felton.

TT starting over Diaw - I'll take TT because of the better rebounding ability and defense. He should also score around 15 a game as well. I'll take TT.

Two improvements and the team is noticeably better. Just need to get a C that can play some defense.

Put down the crack pipe.

Chandler + Felton + Diaw > Calderon + Evans

Last I checked, Tyrus Thomas was on the team last season, regardless of whether he started or came off the bench.

The Bobcats at this point, are worse than they were last season.

Evans < Diaw and Chandler

Calderon is not so much better than Felton to override Evans' liabilities on the offensive end, although he could be a decent rebounder and position defender.

At best, the Bobcats are no better than they were last season.
