Bobcats close to trading Diaw, Chandler, aquiring Calderon

Calderon

Jackson

Wallace

TT

AJ

If that's the case, the team's defense is considerably worse with the combination of Calderon and Jefferson. However on the flip side, I could see that starting lineup and our bench scoring over 100ppg.

But we'd still a very solid defensive trio in Jackson, Wallace, and Thomas. We know that Calderon is more of a pure PG than Felton could ever dream of being, and maybe LB helps improve his defense. And not to sound like EC123, but while he may not be close to the defender Howard is, Big Al can hang with him as a scorer and on the boards.

Guys before you start saying we are going out to get A.J. there is no word on that.

I know it was hypothetical of course. There probably aren't that many ways to upgrade at the Center spot and while the team might be done trading. Upgrading the Center spot should still happen imo.

We're just making some open speculation. There's no way we go into the season with Nazr Mohammad as our starting center and we picked up another expiring contract in this trade that could be paired with Nazr's to help us get a real starting center. Its also well known that Big Al is on the shopping block. The pieces fit.

Trade Talks About Al Jefferson Progressed

Trade talks with Minnesota have progressed to the point where it’s time to start speculating about how Al Jefferson would fit with the Mavs.

He’d be by far the best low-post scorer the Mavs have had during the Dirk era. He’d fill the Mavs’ need for quality depth at power forward and center.

What would his role be? How about a Roy Tarpley-like sixth man? Jefferson’s game is different than the shoulda-been Mavs great, but he could be the same type of beast big off the bench.

Actually Naz can start, any time he started last year he produced.

He actually outplayed Jefferson when the Bobcats beat them 93-92

Jefferson had

points- 19

rebounds- 10

blocks- 2

assists- 1

steals- 0

Mohammed had

points- 21 +

rebounds- 20 +

blocks- 1 -

assists- 1 =

steals- 2 +

I just don't feel comfortable with Diop being the primary backup.

And he's got lingering back problems that at any time could shut him down for the entire season. Mohammad was better than Al Jefferson in one head-to-head game. Jefferson has been better than Mohammad his whole career.

A.J. has knee problems. All I am saying is, it is more likely the Cats sign a center than trade for one because if they trade Evans then they are slim at PF.
