Bobcats close to trading Diaw, Chandler, aquiring Calderon

If we keep Chandler and still pull this off that'll be pretty nice. IF Chandler is on the court with Thomas and Wallace, that's a pretty nasty shot blocking crew. We still could always move him too somewhere. I still think we need to sign Ratliff to a 1-year deal.

Ajinca was a project from the get go and it doesn't seem like Brown wants it anymore. That or just doesn't see him being ready for a while still.

Also, this will be Chandler's contract year so he may actually put forth a lot more effort in showcasing his talents to the league.

I don't buy Toronto being willing to accept Lexi in place of TC, but whatever, let's assume for a minute that this rumor is true.

TC, when healthy, is the best available center on the market. The issue is and always has been his health.

OMG!!! i was thinking about this yesterday when i was looking at the contracts..

Please let them take Ajinca instead of Chandler!!

Yes Chandler's contract is huge- but he can still play.. and to be completely honest- he is our best player at the Center position.. please let this happen

i will have complete faith in MJ's abilities as owner if he is able to make this tweak to the deal..

If Jordan doesn't think he can acquire another quality starting center, then we shouldn't include Chandler in the trade. We do need to get another PG though, and Jose Calderon fits our needs and LB's wants almost perfectly. This deal needs to get done in some way, shape, or form.

Charlotte Observer says the deal is possibly dead.

Couldn't close the deal for Michael Beasley and couldn't close it for Jose Calderon. Not that either of these players are that good, but I think when you get swept in the playoffs you'd be more eager to make changes and take risks...

You can't point the blame on MJ because a four-team deal fell apart in reguards to the Beasley trade. And I really feel that MJ is right in holding out Tyson Chandler, even if this deal is dead. Chandler would have essentially been a throw-in to this deal, and his expiring contract has much more value than that. With possibly the best available center, Al Jefferson, going to the Jazz, Chandler may now be the top option for teams looking for a big man. Chandler's value to us, and to everyone else has gone up.

At least we know that MJ and company are actively trying to make the team better. While his drafting hasn't been that great, a lot of the recent trades have been spot-on. I trust what MJ and Larry Brown are doing.

Take it for what its worth, but there's two guys in that thread (and other threads by the way) claiming to have inside sources saying that we shouldn't believe what the media is reporting in respect to what's going on with the trade. Normally I'm warry of things like this, but both of those guys are respected posters over there and one of them writes for CatScratchReader.

Aran Smith: we have been informed by his agent that ajinca of charlotte Bobcats is being traded Twitter

Colangelo is big on the European guys. There's a lot more going on with this trade than what the media knows, that's for certain. We all need to just sit back and let MJ work.

The Bobcats have reportedly pulled out of a trade that would have sent center Tyson Chandler to Toronto.

Chandler may have actually been the sticking point, as the Bobcats don't have enough frontcourt depth to absorb his absence. His expiring contract is also a valuable trade chip, and Charlotte obviously wants to make the most of it.

Boris Diaw will remain in Charlotte for at least a while longer, after the Bobcats scrapped a trade that would have sent him to Toronto.

Diaw started to settle into the Bobcats' offense last season, but wasn't the same fantasy player once Stephen Jackson came to town. It's unclear whether he's being actively shopped around by Charlotte, but obviously he can be had for the right price.

The Bobcats have canceled the reported trade that would have sent Boris Diaw and Tyson Chandler to the Raptors in exchange for Jose Calderon and Reggie Evans.

Team owner Michael Jordan apparently had second thoughts about giving up Tyson Chandler, leading to an 11th hour retraction. He's not helping his image as a fumbling executive, and the Bobcats are still left without a starter-quality point guard. Back to the drawing board.

Take all these little messages for what it's worth, however I still think the deal will go through. MJ is just making sure we do not get scammed and honestly he did pull out at the right time. With A.J. no longer an option there are absolutely no quality centers out there. BC will bite and probably take Alexis Ajinca and Boris Diaw, maybe for Joey Dorsey and Jose Calderon?

According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, this deal is indeed dead.

Calderon and Evans remain in Toronto. Chandler and Diaw remain in Charlotte.

However, Turkoglu will still go from Toronto to the Suns for Barbosa as the only part of this trade that is still a go.

From ESPN Insider.
