Fox Sports analyst says don't sleep on the Panthers

I'm not worried. The 2010 Panthers have the potential to be the best Panther team ever. It's not like a lot of the young guys taking over have never stepped foot on a field. They have at least some experience. They're a big(not the biggest) reason why we went 8-8 last season, with one of the hardest schedules and Delhomme trying to see how many games he can throw away.

There are a number of guys who are expected to start for us that played very little for us and are very inexperienced.

Louis, Connors, Brown, Martin and Tank Tyler on defense.

Jarrett, Fiametta, Bernadeau on offense.

That is 8 starters with little or no experience. Now lets talk about their backups and it gives up 16 guys minimum who are expected to contribute significantly.

Of the potential starters I named, who exactly was a big contributer to our success last year?? Sure a couple started a game or two for us or were role players but how many actually contributed significantly??? The only one that possibly had much of a role was Martin.

Hardly something to get excited about.

But, as all you guys now...ball control was the saints weakness last year. If we didn't have jake delhomme we more than likely win that game in NO. Jake couldn't stretch the field, so they started to stack the box in the second half, when they came back. Not to mention the three costly fumbles we had as a team. Im truely an optimist though.

NO had ball control issues????? Do you mean in that game or all season?

For the regular season they averaged plus 2 minutes in time of possession. Plus they had more first downs, scored more points and more yards than their opponents.

And the reason they came back was because they threw the ball better in the second half including a 54 TD pass to Meachem. It wasn't Jake's fault we went conservative. He didn't throw a pick all day and threw for 200 yards. If you want to blame anyone how about the fumble by Williams in the endzone that sealed the win for them. Or the fumble near their goal line which took away at least 3 points. Add that Davis went down with his ACL that game and there is plenty of reasons we lost.

I never said we COULDN'T stop them. The thing is teams like the Saints and others with insane offenses have beaten even the best defenses.

I also understand controlling the clock doesn't mean you're being conservative, but in Fox's case it does. Even up one score you'd see them shift into that "just try not to lose" playstyle and give up leads.

We play the saints and any other pass first team well because of our D. You cant say we have not played them well over the years. We dont give up big plays on defense because of our cover 2 scheme and when we are in the red zone we go man to man and are very physical with WRs. That is what Fox started out with and we have kept the whole time he has been here. Well except two years with Trgo but thats just cause he was a dumbass.
