Panthers met with Skattebo at Combine

I hope he ends up in a Panther uniform. Something about this kid makes me think he's going to be a special player.  Nothing great stands out about him but he's just 100% football player that won't quit.

Something about him for sure. I get the same for Jack Sawyer.

I was definitely pretty damn surprised by that. Imagine getting trucked on the gridiron then he walks into the gym and you think you're gonna get it back on this 5'9" dude and then he drops a hammer on you on the hardwood too. Dayum...

Yea that’s elite athletic genetics.  Maybe a bit short but a vertical jump around 40 indicates he is a freak.

He doesn't have long speed. I think that's pretty clear watching him play. But he has everything else. And let's be real, how often does long speed really come into play for a RB. How often does a RB really break out into the open and cut loose in the NFL? Honestly probably only a handful of times a season for most. I'll take a guy who has the elite vision, agility, short area burst, power, etc. over the guy who has wheels in the open field.

I have a heart, so I love him as much as everyone else. But: it would be really nice to find a backup with the speed to bring some volatility to the offense, and Skattebo doesn’t have it. Chuba and Skattebo have very similar games. Obviously that’s a good game, but Skattebo doesn’t bring anything to the offense that it doesn’t already have. And we need someone to return kicks/punts.

Tuten, Brashard Smith, Etienne, Rocket Sanders…so many guys ran in or below the 4.4’s this year. Obviously if the GPS data says he plays as fast as those guys, throw the combine numbers out the window. But if it matches up, he’s not my favorite type of back for us.

I don’t know if there’s ever been a prospect I’ve wanted the panthers to draft more than this kid. Unfortunately some team will “reach” for him

I wouldnt go that far but I like him as well.  Just not sure what round he is going to end up in.  If Morgan didnt draft that RB last year I would be all about he Hampton train at 57 if he was there but you cannot draft a rb in the 2nd in back to back drafts

To be fair Chubba did run a 4.36 at his pro day.

Hand-timed at a pro day. It doesn’t show up on the field. I think the point remains.

Nothing says they can’t find a shiftier back and have this kid as the backup and heir apparent to Chuba

I shared the info as many people on the board are fans of his

who knows what they will do but at least they know they need to update the backs if at all possible

when Chuba is out, it doesn’t typically end well
