Perfect this hypothetical trade

The Timberwolves want expiring contracts. They get two.

Other than Al Jefferson, that's what I give the Bobcats. This trade would be a huge splash for the Bobcats. You get a legitimate guy to plug the middle, and two expiring contracts on positions you need assistance in this upcoming season...PG and back up PF.

I would be surprised of Bird would support a projected two more losses, but maybe they'll make some moves to plug some holes.

The back up PF, while limited some in ability, is a high energy guy coming from a team with an abundance of similar players, and would probably be a hometown hero, in Charlotte, more so than any of the other UNC players they've had. This move only benefits ticket sales.

Sherron Collins can play behind the PG acquisition for a year to see if he develops into anything. If he doesn't, then move on after the year.

Trade

Bobcats get:

PG - TJ Ford

PF - Tyler Hansbrough (reunites with Hendo's elbow)

C - Al Jefferson

Pacers get:

PG - DJ Augustin

HF - Boris Diaw

Timberwolves get:

C/PF - Tyson Chandler

C - Alexis Ajinca

If Indiana won't give up Tyler Hansbrough, try to get Josh McRoberts from them. If you can't get him, try to get Brandon Wright from Golden State to back up Tyrus Thomas this upcoming season. Both McRoberts and Wright are expiring contracts.

I don't care what the trade machine says, I highly doubt the T-Wolves would trade Big Al for Chandler and Freedom Fries. I don't think Indiana would dump Hansbrough after one year, especially since they've invested a first-round pick in him, and we've got our starter at PF. Hansbrough would just cloud the situation up again. I like the idea of getting TJ Ford and I'd love to have a guy like Al Jefferson playing center, but I don't see those trade being that likely.

Hansbrough can't play he has vertigo and he may not play again this year.

I would take this trade without a second opinion, but I don't think the T-Wolves would take two Center's.

Try this one.

Bobcats get:

Al Jefferson

Tyler Hansbrough

T.J. Ford

T-Wolves Get

Boris Diaw

DeSagana Diop

Pacers Get

Tyson Chandler

Trade Machine passes it, (I did attempt to get rid of Diop and keep Ajinca, but it wouldn't take), but Minnesota either wants good players or EXPIRING CONTRACTS, so they would never take Diop.

There's no way I see Indiana going along with it without THEM getting Diaw.

Indiana already has 5 guys on their team 6'9 or taller, they don't need Chandler.

Minnesota could possibly take two expiring contracts for Centers who they will let walk after this coming season.

I would still take the first trade though. Because we get A.J. starting center and T.J. starting pg.

Did you read the entire post?

Minnesota wants EXPIRING contracts. Last I heard, they were trying to trade Al Jefferson for Dampier from Dallas. Sure, he's better than Chandler and Ajinca, but not a whole lot better than they could be combined.

Symbolically speaking, Jefferson should warrant at least two players in return. "Dampier" for Jefferson? What dirt does Cuban have on the Timberwolves?

I repeat, did you read the rest of the post?

I see no mention in your response of Josh McRoberts or Brandon Wright.

Did you read the entire post?

Sure did. You should quit being so stand-offish and you'd get a better response from people. Your "holier-than-thou" additude drives most of the better posters away from your threads and makes you come across as a real jackass. We're all Bobcats fans here, there's no need to be rude to anybody. We're all entitled to an opinion, yours isn't any better than ours. All I ask of people is that they make sure their trades make some sense and they do a little research behind them. It seems like you've done that, good job.

I hadn't seen that and, while I don't doubt you, I'd like to see a link saying that just for some solid proof. If they are looking for strictly expiring deals, then we should be all over your proposed trade.

I repeat, did you read the rest of the post?

And I repeat, quit being a jackass. You can try to be an internet badass all you want, but its making you look like a fool.

I see no mention in your response about Josh McRoberts or Brandon Wright.

You're right, I didn't mention them. While those guys would hold value as back-ups and as expiring contracts, they'd essentially be throw-ins to make the trade work.

Sources told ESPNDallas.com that the Minnesota Timberwolves have been urging Dallas to part with Dampier's contract -- and draft considerations -- in exchange for Al Jefferson, who has three years left on his contract at $42 million. The Mavericks, sources said, keep telling the Wolves that they won't surrender Dampier's contract in a Jefferson deal because they have it earmarked for a Pau Gasol-type trade, such as the centerpiece of Dallas' longstanding pursuit of New Orleans point guard Chris Paul.

Btw I am not taking sides in this argument, but I believe the name-calling needs to stop, unfortunatley KT is not here to get things sorted out.

We have to come away this offseason with AL JEFFERSON or i will have a hissy fit. Willing to give up DJ Augustin, Tyson Chandler, Boris Diaw and Alexis Ajinca to bring in TJ Ford, the mighty JEFFERSON and an undersized overpaid whiteboy PF.

I don't see us moving that many pieces to bring in AL and TJ. We damn well better get more than AL and TJ for moving starters DIAW and TC plus a heavy minute backup and FORMER FIRST ROUNDER's IN AA and DJ.

Thanks for the info, man.

There's a slight difference between Chandler's contract and Dampier's. Dampier's contract isn't guaranteed this year, meaning that Minnesota could acquire him, cut him, and only pay a fraction of his salary. Its immediate cap relief. Minnesota is also looking for draft picks in return, and with all the trades we've made I'm not really sure if we still owe some teams picks in the future, which would again complicate matters in acquiring Al Jefferson. If we don't owe anybody draft picks, and Minny would take Chandler and Freedom Fries, then there's no way I wouldn't do that trade, even with Jefferson's injuries and defensive inefficiencies.

The main thing, however, is staying under the luxury tax. Now that we've committed $8MM a year to Tyrus Thomas, I'm not sure that we could acquire Al Jefferson and achieve that.
