There may be degrees, but all are guilty and all are responsible.

It is never that easy.

A person who is going around as a predator and luring children to their home for sex is not at all the same as someone who have downloaded pictures of someone who is perhaps 14 and lied about their age to make an adult movie. Technicaly both may be legaly wrong but they are hardly comparable. In one case the person is a predator, the other an unwitting voyeur. One peron is actively trying to abuse little girls and the other is doing something which really doesn't harm anyone.

I really don't know the particulars in the case but to assume everyone is guilty and responsible equally is rarely the case.

Context does matter just like the prohibition against killing someone unless you are at war or they are shooting back. Using your scenario, they would still all be guilty and responsible regardless of circumstance. Right??

My scenario? I said I understood degrees, but all are guilty and responsible. I didn't say "equally." You put those words in my mouth.

I think I would have understood your response if you had say all are guilty and responsible to varying degrees. Lacking that assumes equally. But I understand your point now.

You even quoted me "there may be degrees." Why the need to "assume" anything?

Because when someone says there are degrees and then says "but" that is considered a sentence shifter and everything after that is different that what comes before without an additional qualifier. Since you lack a qualifier after the "but", it assumes that there isn't one hence the confusion and reason to qualify the guilt and responsibility with varying degrees as well.

But whatever, I don't think this is worthy of a back and forth discussion.
