I still haven't seen a single person give good reasoning as to why Brown stepping up as a leader is such a crazy thought. He has shown awesome work ethic and has repeatedly stated that he's ready to be a more vocal leader of the defense.

Thanks for agreeing.

I didn't say we had no leaders on D besides Beason and neither did the guy you originally responded to. I said he was the best one we have. Nobody is saying Beason is the ONLY leader. You have such a need to be sarcastic that you'll put words in people's mouths just so you can be. It's ridiculous.

Pay attention. The assumption here is that with Harris, Diggs and Lewis gone and Davis sidelined, there are no established "leaders" left on the defense except for Beason. Our poster-friend here said:

but Beason is such a dominant leader of the D as a whole that there isn't really any room for another captain

So, by his logic, no more leaders can emerge. Therefore, if Beason is the only leader left on the defense and there is no room for others to become leaders, then Beason is the "ONLY" leader.

Brown is kinda quiet, modest, and shy. If he leads, it will be for what he does and not says. Johnson or Brayton are more likely to assume a verbal leadership role than Brown. In a way, all three will lead if they get Hardy to play at his potential, which is saying something.

To have leaders sometimes suggests that you have followers. I care more about chemistry.

Kasay needs to stay. If for no other reason, he is Steve Smith's best buddy. Very odd, I thought. They warm up together, talking the entire time. Steve finds Kasay. I think Kasay has helped keep Smith in line over the years and I think SS knows and appreciates JK. It is a very unusual relationship. This may be common knowledge, but itwas rather interesting to me when I saw it.

First of all, you're the one making that assumption. Even with the vets here nobody was a more important leader than Beason. Guys are goingto step up but will they be more important than Beason? No.

Second of all, you chopped off the last part of that last guy's statement saying that Beason can have lieutenants. You just left it off because it throws a wrench in your argument.

Lieutenants are right behind Captains. Captains command everybody, the lieutenants command the smaller platoons. He was making an analogy of the defense being a Company, and the the units(secondary, linebacker, D-line) being platoons.

All he's saying is that Beason is the most important leader on Defense. It's not that hard to figure out if you would just quit trying to mold everyone's words to

Are you joking? That's not an assumption that just I am making. Any panther fan with any knowledge of the team whatsoever will tell you that Beason is THE leader of the defense and that we lost several others in the off season. Yes, obviously Beason is the most important leader of the defense. That's exactly what I'm f'ing saying. If he goes down the defense needs other leaders. And I honestly don't care about the dude's army analogy, the point remains the same. Other leaders NEED to emerge on this defense, and Everette Brown could very well be one of those. And I'm sure Captain Jon Beason is not at all opposed to other players on the defense stepping up as leaders along with him.
