What are the odds that....

a) The Panthers pick up another DT somehow?

B) Matt Moore is unseated as the starting QB

c) Everette Brown takes a leadership role

d) John Kasay makes it through training camp without "retiring"?

a) 50-50

B) doubt it

c) "leadership role" is more likely for Tyler Brayton or Charles Johnson, but Brown could make a mark

d) doubt it, wish we'd have held on to Aaron pettrey though

75% chance. The front office may pick one up just as a body in camp.

B) Matt Moore is unseated as the starting QB

25% chance. Clausen is good, but Fox loves his veterans. Moore would have to fug it up royal.

c) Everette Brown takes a leadership role

75% chance. He seems pretty vocal, and with all that youth on the D-line, someone is going to have to step up and be a leader.

d) John Kasay makes it through training camp without "retiring"?

50% chance. I think he sticks it out one more season.

Thats my guess.

a) 3-1. They'll keep an eye on the cuts but aren't going to grab a Haynesworth type character.

B) Sure thing. Bet the house.

c) 10-1. If Beason is the leader of the D, don't screw it up with to many chefs

d) Kasay goes nowhere.

I don't see how kasey can retire when we have nobody to replace him.

It's not as tough to replace one as you think. Of course I remember when he was hurt, we had this guy named Shayne Graham play for us, but he couldn't even make a kick against Green Bay. Wonder what he's doing now.

There are 11 defensive players on the field at a time. They could use more than one leader. It worked out pretty well back when we had Rucker and Minter running the show.

Since we currently have "The worst DTs in the League" I guess we could improve by adding even a mediocre one.

Brown may emerge as a leader on the d-line, but Beason is such a dominant leader of the D as a whole that there isn't really any room for another captain...more like a lieutenant.

It's funny how people continue to have the most varying opinions on Matt Moore vs Jimmy Clausen. It just goes to show you that the hype has already begun and hype is great for the Panthers organization.

I think the decision is simple. Moore will start, but with Clausen you don't keep the thoroughbred locked in the barn for long. Moore will have to prove his worth as a legit pocket passer threat and not just a game manager.

So if Beason gets injured the defense has no leader. Cool strategy.

He didn't say that. He just said Beason is the jefe of the D. It doesn't mean we have no leaders behind him it just means he's the best/most important one. So if he goes down we do lose a lot of on field leadership.

Beason would probably be the first person to tell you we need as many leaders as possible on both sides of the ball. It doesn't mean that the guys are only going to listen or respond to just one.

Chris Harris was a leader on defense. I don't think Beason had a problem with that.

Brown has written quite a bit on his blog about stepping up and being a leader, as well as helping some of the younger players out. He is a class act all the way and exactly the sort of high-character guy this organization targets.

Graham has a higher career FG % and PAT % than Kasay... and the Bengals let him go to Baltimore.

More DT's than the 7 already on the roster, the oldest being 26?

98 Hayden, Nick DT 6-4 292

60 Irvin, Corvey DT 6-3 302

99 Johnson, Ed DT 6-2 296

61 Landri, Derek DT 6-2 290

94 Leonard, Louis DT 6-4 325

68 Neblett, Andre DT 6-0 295

93 Tyler, Tank DT 6-2 306
