Why Cris Carter needs to be muzzled...

Former Vikings All-Pro receiver Cris Carter is calling out Sidney Rice for avoiding Larry Fitzgerald's summer camp this week.

"I don't know what it's like to have one good year and then disappear," said Carter. "That's on him. ... If I had that kind of impact on him he should have been here today." The grueling workouts at Fitz's camp have been credited as a major influence on Rice's breakout season in 2010. He's running out of time to report to this year's camp.

......

Agent Drew Rosenhaus revealed Thursday that Sidney Rice is still dealing with a lingering hip injury sustained during the playoffs in January.

Rosenhaus put the information on his Twitter account after rumors surfaced that Rice had undergone surgery for a groin injury. Rice doesn't believe the hip will require surgery, and he hopes to be fully healthy for the start of the season. While this does explain Rice's absence from Larry Fitzgerald's summer camp, it's disconcerting that the injury has lingered for six months. Rice's health is now one of the most important fantasy stories to track in training camp.

He was a great player, but just needs to shut the hell up now.

    • Wilks is a nobody in the grand scheme of things.  He is right back out of the NFL, exactly where he was before Carolina dragged him back to the NFL.  I don't see what he has to be pissed or salty about. He got a shot with 2 teams and was just a average coach as he has always been.  He is a lesser Fox/Rivera
    • The way BY must play quarterback has a much higher degree of difficulty.  Coupled with his physical limitations his margin for error is small.    The guy evading the blitz and dropping a dime deep over double coverage is more exciting then a wobbling ball thrown into the blitz with good enough placement that gets 6 yards on a 3rd and 5.  It's been beat to death that he will never be the first guy.  He was the second guy vs the Chiefs.    The second guy is harder to do because it's mostly mental:  reading, reacting and processing the correct solution that the defense provided within a second or two.    It's harder to see on film, it's harder to evaluate.  That's why I think there's a divergence between fans yelling "noodle armed middle schooler!!" and analysts going "hold up, let's not write him off yet"    I personally need to see the Chiefs game be the start of growth before getting hopeful.  Ideally would like to see 1-2 300yd multi td games.  Then I'd expect the entire off season to fix his footwork.  With his physical limitations that footwork needs to be damn near perfect.  I would still bring in competition at the QB spot even in that scenario.
