Blanchard and Borer join Canes

Casey Borer has inked a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina.

He appeared in just 30 games for the Albany River Rats in 2009-10 due to neck surgery stemming from the team's bus crash in February. Borer will earn $500,000 in the NHL and $65,000 in the minors, with a guarantee of at least $75,000.

Nicolas Blanchard has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes.

Blanchard produced 14 goals, 22 points and 171 penalty minutes in 76 games

with Carolina's AHL affiliate in Albany in 2009-10. He will make $500,000 at the NHL level and $60,000 in the minors in 2010-11, with a guarantee of at least $75,000. His salary in 2011-12 will garner him $525,000 at the NHL level and $65,000 in the AHL with an $80,000 guarantee. Blanchard was chosen in the sixth round, 192nd overall, by the Canes in 2005.
