Is this your first? Your life is going to change now! Congratulations. Before you know it, you will turn into one of your Parents!

I hope my parenting is much better than my parents'. I love them, but let's just say they weren't your typical parents.

Put a nail in the wall next to your side of the bed. Put your car keys on it every night. Last thing you want is to spend thirty minutes looking for your keys when your wife wakes you up at three in the morning craving something.

Congrats brotha!

Ha! My wife is already a milkshake fiend; I bet she'll just want them more.

Thanks!

not all women get mad cravings.

Except for wanting hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner a lot, my wife has been a cinch. So there is hope.

My wife demanded dill pickle flavored sunflower seeds the other night. I didn't believe her that they existed until I found them....

....in Winston-Salem.

Better to be prepared for the cravings than to hope they don't happen.

Damn man, sorry I just now saw this... but congrats!

Best advice I can offer is not to get too emotionally invested at this point... I know that sounds kind of like me being a "downer" but I just don't want you to have to have that emotional roller coaster that I did the first time my wife and I got preggers... only to find out it was ectopic...

That said, be happy! Be there for your wife, and go to all the appointments with her... Stay kind of cautiously optimistic, and as the weeks start passing by, let your enthusiasm grow more and more...

The sex will end before you know it, so bookmark some good porn sites or something... lol...

Remember it is going to be a roller coaster for her anyways, with hormones and all that jazz... She'll sleep a lot more, and you'll be shouldering the majority of the housework...

Use this time to reaffirm your love for each other, because before you know it, you'll have someone else that needs your love too...

Good luck to you both, and congrats again!

I got 8 more weeks until I get to meet my son, and it is still a mix of terror and excitement... ;)

Thanks, man! Right now I'm trying to walk that line between being very excited and not counting the proverbial egg before it hatches. My wife is very much a worrier. She's very nervous already and worried that something will happen. I've just tried to tell her that worrying will do no good, and that if anything goes wrong it will be through no fault of our own. I definitely hear you on that. I'm just trying to stay excited and not worry too much at this point.

My wife's family knows because they were all with her (at the beach) when it happened. But she doesn't want us to tell other friends and family until the 10-week mark to make sure everything's fine. That's five more weeks.

She's at the doctor right now having all of her levels checked.

Just eight more weeks, huh? That's awesome!

I'm already noticing this. I think I do a decent bit around the house now, but I think I'm really going to have to step up over these next nine months. She's already panicking about all the stuff that needs to be done.

Congrats Berry!

Use all those uncles and aunts if the two of you need them....they can help shoulder a night off for new parents and most of them actually like being around the little ones more than you think.

Cloth diapers are the best for just about everything. Cleaning a baby bum, spitup, for burping, etc. You will be surprized in what you will use them for. If you can find the ones that are not pre-folded or assembled - it will be a God send for emergencies and surprizes.

I hope the best for you and the wife. It's awesome to see menfolk excited about being a dad...too many of them don't appreciate the gift of having a son or daughter look up to you with undrying love and admiration.

Thanks very much! I'm definitely excited about it, but I do realize how my life is going to change and how critical it is for me to be a good father. I'm nervous, but I know that -- as others have already said -- we'll learn a lot as we go.

We are fortunate to have a lot of family within half a mile from us. My wife's parents, sister and brother (and their families) live right around the corner from us. They're all awesome people who have been there for us in the past, and I'm sure they'll do everything they can to help us out in the future. We're very fortunate to have them.

My wife called and her levels and all of that were fine. In two weeks, we go in for an ultrasound and hope to hear a heartbeat. If we do, miscarriage rates drop from 30% to 10% after hearing that heartbeat.

So, we've decided we'll wait until after that to really tell everyone. You guys on the Huddle have the inside scoop. :P

Things will be fine...don't worry...just enjoy the ride.
