You're paying for high-speed but you're getting dial up speed...

Dial up is way worse, believe me. But if Sprint ever gets 4G in my area, I'm definitely ditching satellite. Right now I have 3G, and I use my cell phone as a wi-fi hotspot...mostly for gaming. It's still not as good as most of the speeds listed on here, but it makes it so I can play on Xbox Live.

LOL...You are getting ripped off big time.

No doubt, they have me by the balls. But the best part is I have a download cap of 375 MB per day. If I go beyond that my speed drops to around 5 kb/s, pretty much unusable. I think when I had dial up I would average around 5-7 kb/s. I feel like I'm living in a third world country.

stankowalski, what Saltman is paying you should be paying. Sure something isn't wrong ?

I remember my connection was so slow right under a meg one time and later on I called my provider and they said nothing was wrong. I was using this filter thing they gave me and was using it with my phone jack.. since I have DSL and yup, that's what it was all along.

Well I could buy one of those Mobile Hotspot options from Sprint, which would probably cost around 50-60 bucks a month, and not be a whole lot faster than what I have now. Plus those have a 5 Gb cap per month.

I don't think he has satellite service for internet...I do. Satellite is expensive.

More than likely Duke-Net provides the long haul. NCREN is probably rate limiting it at the edge.

Yeah, I think they said that may be about right. Just know the NCREN line was cut somewhere the other day and that was just AWESOME when trying to get TBs of data to clients.
