Questions about internet speed...

I don't know much about our IT architecture, but I do know that redundancy is the name of the game for security's sake. They have firewalls around everything, including the water cooler. We're on the Duke-NET fiber but something is choking it out somewhere amongst the tubes.

I have windstream at home. Consistently my speeds get ratcheted down from 266k - 766k, especially at night. I'm paying for 3 mbps.

But then I can reset my modem and it'll be back over 2 mbps, but the hassle really annoys me.

More than likely Duke-Net provides the long haul. NCREN is probably rate limiting it at the edge.

I have the same problem as you at home. I have Comcast but it is a little faster than yours.
