Joe Person: Panthers really like Mason Graham and Jalon Walker

I see Ward going #1 and Cleveland almost certainly takes Sanders second.  I personally see that is a near lock.  The Browns are going QB

Interesting.  I have heard both are not sold on these qbs--but this time of year, you hear everything.  They are both taking a QB, but not sure 100% yet that means at #1 or #2. In the video below, the blonde woman on the left provides "back handed" compliments that I see as negatives to Sanders in Cleveland if she represents the masses. I have heard (someone from Ohio and this was at least 2 weeks ago) that they like Will Howard and may trade the pick or take Will Howard in the second round.  These Cleveland reporters explain that dynamic at the end of this video:

I like both of these guys but the more I hear sensationalist commentary on James Pearce jr the more intrigued I become.

he’s the only other “clean” edge rushing prospect in this class, he comes out and destroys the combine and the immediate “leaks” are “yeah, no, not even a first rounder.”

that’s suspicious to me.

He was talked about as a possible number one overall pick coming into the season. He put up major production. He’s tremendously athletically gifted. Those guys don’t last until round 2.

in any case I just want the team to gauge his personality for themselves and not make any hive mind decisions regarding him, this is absolutely the kind of thing where we pass on him and fancy ourselves really clever up until the moment Philly runs the card in to take him at record speed.

Yeah it’s ultimately up to the interviews for a lot of these guys (Pearce, Green, Nolen) with reported concerns.

Same in any job, if there are concerns from prior employment and you don’t interview well to dissuade them, then it ain’t gonna land you the gig.

I heard a report some teams are fine with Pearce and others aren’t. So it could definitely be more of a lifestyle thing outside the locker room or his attitude in general. Jordan Addison was similar.

In a case like Green, that’s a bit different IMO because he had multiple accusations and was kicked out of a major program. But with Pearce, it’s just “concerns”. Ultimately up to the teams, and it only takes one. Let’s not make that Philly again.

The big deal for me is that all of those guys were true MLB tackling machines. Specifically Morgan and Luke were well over 100 tackles in their final collegiate seasons. Jalon Walker is like a 60 tackles guy.

UGA didn't use him as a true ILB and that hurt his tackles.  I think he should be used more as an ILB personally.

Holding off the idea you hear everything this time of the year— Brugler was saying Howard had probably the toughest combine of the bunch at QB. Don’t know if he’s trending up.

Pearce is going to be situational pass rusher as a rookie (with Clowney and Wonnum) and the concerns are based on his ability to hold the edge.  Green depends on the interviews and background check.

A lot of people took DJ's tweet very serious in him basically stating if he knows anything for certain it's that Cleveland will take a QB. Sorry for not posting link to tweet. I can try to find it though.

Yes, he disappointed (based on what I hear). I was expecting the opposite. They still think second round.  If I needed a QB this year, it would be Ward or build the OL/offense and take a developmental QB later like Ewers, Howard, etc.

Has nobody mentioned that Matt Corral was throwing at the combine?  I saw him throwing during the WR portion, I think. (That might piss me off if I was Jaxon Dart and trying to evade that comparison)

I was getting at the point that Green, Pearce and Nolen all have reported character concerns.

I’d argue Pearce can set the edge, he’s decent against the run from what I’ve seen. And not only that but metrics show it (graded in the high 80s). He can get thrown off dependent on the type of linemen but he’s much more refined as an edge setter than is let on.

I have not looked into him as much as others.  If so, he is likely the pick.  Since Graham is probably gone, It could be down to picking SEC players from Charlotte or Salisbury.

Yeah. Honestly thought it was very early in this draft process for DJ to say something like that and for him to put a lot of confidence behind it is crazy.

I don’t think it’s a given Graham is gone. I for real think he could be there for us. Was catching up on the athletic pod this morning and Mays/Brugler were chatting about him for a minute. Some teams just don’t go for DL with his body type (I think it will be to their detriment)

He would just need to slip past JAX, NE and NYJ. LVR aren’t going DT.

And JAX and NE have QBs they absolutely need to support (Campbell and Membou).

I can see it happening.
