I was right, and I was wrong....

From a few months ago...

Jake Delhomme had his worst performance since 2006 against Philadelphia, the only other game in his career where he threw four interceptions. Yes, Jake Delhomme still throws up a couple of stinkers a season. He always has, he always will. The difference this year? The Panthers won. In years past, Jake's less than stellar games were sure losses in a big way. But thanks now mainly to an improved runnig game and defense, a few interceptions does not necessarily mean the game is over.

Yes, Panthers fans, what you thought was a terrible game, is actually a sign that the Panthers remain a Superbowl contender. I do not think we will see another stinker from Jake this season, hopefully it is out of his system.

I was right in the fact that Jake Delhomme always has and always will have games where he looks like a terrible QB.

I was wrong that he had gotten it out of his system for the year.

Jake is an average QB with consistency problems. Always has been, always will be. Question is, is that good enough to win a superbowl? It was for Baltimore in 2000. You just need the best defense on the planet.

So whats it going to be?

^Up until the first bye the D was solid especially run defense

No excuses for Jake this year, he blew it. Top 3 rushing attack, a solid defense, an all pro WR and a solid #2 and he still cant get it done. Jake is the weak link to our offense and everyone knows it thats why they constantly play up his "intangibles".

What King said.

So you say the defense sucked the second half of the season...which includes but is not limited to the post-season. Our defense did no one on offense any favors yesterday. But, the offense wasn't helping out the defense either.

I don't know really any games that Jake single-handedly cost us the game. It doesn't work like that. Of course Jake is going to say it was all his fault, because the box-score says that he had a hand in 6 turnovers. They operate as units. When the receivers are open, you can blame the defensive line for no pressure, the defensive coordinator for no blitzes, the secondary for sucking, and the head coach for everything else. When Jake throws those picks, you can blame the gameplanning, Jake, receivers not being able to get open, the Cardinals defense playing well, offensive line's lack of protection, etc.

This is my first post on here since last night... honestly I was a little afraid that the board had imploded after what happened last night. The D did not play well, but this loss is on Jake's shoulders. I like Jake, but Zod is correct, he's an average QB that has (before last night) played well in the playoffs and throws up a really bad game here and there. Last night was definitely one of those and it cost the Panthers huge. There were other factors, Richard Marshall's bad coverage on those first Cardinal drives, not using the running game like we should have (coaching), but when it was all said and done, Jake blew it.
