NFLN's best in the biz (top 5 at each position)

someone let me know how frank gore is ahead of d will.....hasn't he been injured like the last two years

he has but he has managed to rush for 1k and at least 40 receptions for 4 years straight. Dwill has only done 1k twice.

dwill does have a better ypc average though

it all depends on what you think makes a running back better than another guy.

Tennessee is going to run CJ's legs off. I totally agree that past will show that a running back who has THAT many carries usually dies off (just as LJ did). He might have some success next year, perhaps even in 2011 as well. But he will NOT reach the 2,000 yard mark next season. He's a great back, but way too one dimensional to be an every down back. If he can split carries with a more physical back, then he can be used more effectively, IMO. He's slippery, not powerful (just wanted to throw that out there because all I hear is CJ can "run you over"). DWill and Stew will never get the props they deserve from media because a) its Carolina B) they split carries (yet still put up numbers better than half the league.)

I read earlier in the thread the reason Rice isn't included is because he has only been in the league a couple years. Hasn't CJ? Sure, he hit 2,000. But you can't just put him as a number 1 TALENT at the position in the league due to that and still leave Rice off the list.

The top 5, IMO, is a joke. MJD and Jackson I can see. Gore has good talent, but I would take MJD, Jackson, AP, Dwill, Stew, Rice, Slaton, and Addai before Gore. Again, that's just me.

CJ is much stronger and physical than you think. Over 1000 of his 2000 yards were made after defensive contact meaning he breaks tackles and doesn't go down on first contact. But I agree that he was overused last year. I expect that Young will use more of a passing attack this year and that Johnson won't be as worn out. On the other hand if he keeps holding out he will get all the rest in the world.

CJ has gone over 1k both years he's been in the league, Rice only did it last year. not saying it's right, i'm just explaining the train of thought

See, I have seen only a handful of highlights where I see CJ actually go THROUGH somebody. I've seen him stop on a dime, almost in midair, through a guy over him, and restart in 5th gear. But never truly ABUSE a defender like AP, Stew, and Dwill do about every game, ya know? First contact just means from the minute he is touched by a defender (correct me if I am wrong). So, again, idk if I would necessarily say CJ is powerful as much as he is slippery and hard to bring down in that respect. I have seen him crumble on first contact numerous times. Not trying to argue, just stating my thought process.

And to Cracka Mcnasty, yeah, I can see what you're saying. But in his defense, he only started 4 games in 2008. 108 attempts, 454 yards, 4.2 avg (granted he had no TDs). So I guess I can see the argument. Idk. I think I am just a big time hater on CJ due to everybody thinking he is the second coming. Eh.

I watched Johnson for 4 years in college and again last year. He runs around, over and through folks. He is definitely tough and blazingly fast. He is the real deal and more versatile than a lot of folks you mentioned. In one bowl game against Boise State 2 years ago, he had over 500 all purpose yards. Lets be honest, when you have 4.3 speed you aren't running over folks most of the time anyway, They are behind you trying to catch a piece of you. LOL

Andre Johnson is unquestionably #1 for me. In no particular order, here are my Top 12.

Andre J

Larry Fitz

Smitty

B-Marsh

Reggie Wayne

D-Jax

V-Jax

Wes Welker

Ocho Cinco

Miles Austin

Sydney Rice

Calvin Johnson

Honorable Mentions: Santana Moss, Anquan Boldin, Randy Moss, Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Derrick Mason.

R. Moss and Boldin are overrated for me, and I think Santana Moss could break this Top 12 list with McNabb as QB this season. Santana has been one of the most underrated receivers for years.
