Lot of rumors on who we'll be targeting in FA. Will be interesting to see who we actually sign. Can't wait for next week.

Remember in 2021 when we signed Irving and Eflien to multi year deals like 30 seconds into FA.  Good times good times.   That certainly didnt bite us in the ass.

Not sure why I just remembered that but its the first thing that came to mind in regards to Free agency

I'm hoping that those days are behind us. Granted not all free agents work out so you cannot expect them to be perfect at it but I would hope more do than don't.

We need to draft starters with our first 3 picks (and at least 2 of them need to be defense). If we want a RB find one in the later rounds.

We have to hit on those first 3 picks.  My mind (right now, subject to change often):

1. (I would love to trade back, but for this exercise)  Edge (unless DT Graham is there) James Pearce, UT.  4.47 40?  Will add 10 lbs. and be a situational pass rusher early on, but he will be a 3-down player soon.

2.  NT Alfred Collins Texas (before free agency, a stud NT beside Brown and, right now, Robinson would make us MUCH BETTER. 6' 6" 330 and runs a sub 5.0 40.   I think he is a perfect NT for Evero.)

3. TE Mason Taylor LSU (Very smooth player with good hands.  Jason Taylor's son.  would start day 1, and with Sanders, we might not miss the lack of a #1 WR as much.)

4. S/OT

5. OT/S

I have really tried to forget times like that. Here's to hoping those days are behind us.

Luckily for you someone will make the decision for you. In this case all needs will theoretically be addressed in FA. Now will they be long term fixes? Definitely not in most cases. Those will come from the draft, several drafts in fact.

I would drive off with a Griswold wagon.

I was hurt.  It was like being hit in the stomach with a sledge hammer.

Pearce gives me serious Brian Burns vibes.  I don't think he'd be a 3 down guy, especially early on in his career.  He's a pass rush specialist and that may be all he'll ever be.

That bothers me too.  With Clowney and Wonnum, he would have a year to add 10-15 lbs and hopefully, become a three down edge, but that is all he is right now--you are right. This paragraph gave me hope--(NFL Draft Buzz, fwiw):  "Pearce profiles as an immediate impact pass-rush specialist with the ceiling to develop into a complete three-down edge defender. His elite get-off and bend profile perfectly for today's pass-happy NFL, where his ability to threaten the edge will command attention from day one. Smart defensive coordinators will initially deploy him in obvious passing situations while developing his run defense..." then compares him to Burns.

Let's just hope that Graham falls to us or we get a trade down offer.

multi year deals for them but a one year deal for Riddick when he was dirt cheap.   ::Sigh::

If the Saints or Bucs paid Fitterer to screw this team up he would not have done a worse job.

Agreed - I think not tendering Blackshear is a possible sign that we will try and get a RB.  I realize we could still resign him, but with so many picks and such depth at the RB position I think we will take a shot.  Getting a quality starter in round 3 or even 4 is not that hard most years.  There are about 4 guys currently expected to be late 2nd - early 4th that I would not mind getting picked.

I found it interesting that one scout said there are 4 blue chip players in this draft, and after that, there is not much difference between the 15th pick and the 50th pick...

I've been noticing this myself, with mocks all over the place after the first few players. Would be a great yea to trade back a bit and still load up with talent. We have so many needs, there's no reason we couldn't get 4-5 players that start or contribute significantly in year 1.

Anyone correct my logic here:  If the draft is loaded at RB and the position is somewhat devalued as a result, why would you tender Blackshear?  Even if you want him, would you not let him test the market and return to play for minimum?  If he leaves, you have a real chance of upgrading for less $$.

Agree - that is what I think they are doing.
