The 49ers plan to add football for the 2013 season, and to hire a coach next summer. Minter has lobbied for a chance to be the first coach, and said school officials have promised him an interview when the process begins next year.

Damn, just as I am finishing up at UNCC they add a football team. Oh well at least I won't be paying the extra $ but it might be worth it if they make it a team worth watching.

Fwiw, even though Minter is a great guy, I am not sure I would hire him if I were running the 49ers football program. He doesn't have any coaching or recruiting experience does he? He needs to do some time as an assistant coach before becoming head coach.

Minter is out of luck. UNCC already promised the job to John Fox since he'll be gone after the season. Its the only HC job he could find.
