Matt Moore is having a Great Summer

Meeks scheme needs speed at the least a guy that can move.Thomas could move well for a guy his size.Cody not so much.

actually for as huge as Cody is he does move pretty well. But still moving well for a 350+ pound guy isn't moving well compared to the other UTs, and DEs. Especially in the NFL.

i stand corrected. i guess i guess i should have watched more ND football, before i said that AE would be better at the wildcat, though i still think he brings more options to the table.

Edwards will be better than Tate in the wildcat. NFL defenses run blitzed the wildcat last year with good success. What changes everything is when a guy in the wildcat can run or pass the ball. Edwards can start to run, suck in the corners and safeties and still throw a 40 yard pass down the seam to what will be a wide open receiver. If they don't bite on the run fake, he will simply run for 5 or 10 yards. He is exactly what the wildcat needs to be successful.

Tate tossed the ball back to Clausen who threw the pass. In the Nfl the quarterback who is in the receiver spot gets nailed before he can catch the lateral and throw the pass.

There just isn't much upside for Terrence Cody, IMO. If he's already 350+lbs coming out of college, chances are he will struggle just to stay that "thin" and will most likely gain even more weight in the next few years. Kemo and Jenkins have put on about 30-40lbs since they have been in the league.

A huge NT is 350-360+ pounds.

And FYI you cant trust a roster for any linemen.lol Because Kemo is not 345

So a huge nose tackle is 350 but a 345 tackle isn't huge??????????

Seems these guys sweat five pounds in a practice.

So you think that they purposely underestimate their weight on the roster? For what purpose, vanity or do you think if they say Kemo is 345 it will fake folks out when they see him in the game at 355????

I can hear the offensive center now. Look at him he must be 355 instead of 345. They sure fooled me. If I had known he was 10 lbs heavier I would prepared totally differently. LOL

Not if you crack the cornerback. That play only worked (even in college) because Weis' never showed it until the fourth quarter of the last game of the season. The reality is that even NFL defenses can get tricked by a good playcaller.

No.They dont fake anyone out. They just dont care about internet rosters.lol Last year Charles johnson was 292 pounds. What did it say on the panthers roster.275.Peppers was listed at 270- 280 range but I gurantee you peppers had to be 290 if not 300lbs

Ed Johnson is listed at 296..but the guy is no were close to that small.lol

the average 350-360 pound NT does not fit Meeks scheme.

C'mon now every knows that TV adds 10 - 15 lbs. LOL

The roster on NFL.com lists Charles Johnson at 276????????? But who cares really it isn't worth a back and forth argument.

As for the 350- 360 pound NT not fitting Meeks scheme, we aren't running his scheme, we are running Fox's scheme which is a 4-3 under/over. That does call for a nose tackle to play the 0 technique and take on 2 blockers. It doesn't say how big they have to be but look at our line, we are not much different at the tackle spot than we were when Trgovac was DC. Louis is 330 and Tyler is 309. Other than Jenkins being a beast, most of our guys have been in the 290-300 lb range. When Carstens took that role when Jenkins went down, the pig farmer was a mere 300 lbs. Brenson Buckner was 310 lbs.

Brayton and Johnson have been here for Meeks and Trgovac so with the exception of Peppers, how are things that different? Sure we picked up a few smaller guys as pass rush specialists but that is what everyone is doing. Even under Trgovac we picked up Hilee Taylor.

I don't see that we are going so much smaller at tackle than before.

speed is being emphasized more than ever on defense. When I asked Gantt about us drafting a huge NT.his words "the days of huge Kemo like NT are over". The way we have drafted suggest that we are buying into meeks scheme.Sure we will keep a NT.But will he be huge.No.Because those guys are generally slower and this scheme puts speed first even at the cost of size.

I think that is somewhat of an overstatement. Louis at 330 is surely not a small speed guy. With Tyler at 309 it hardly seems we are going small. These guys are more mobile but not much different than the tackles we have used under Trgo as well.

It does open the question of whether we will continue with a 4-3 under/over or whether we will line up in more of a true 4-3 with the tackles in a 1 gap scheme like Indy ran with Meeks. I personally like a Miami style 4-3 but who knows at this point.

Just from what I saw Louis looks like he has some speed.Tank lives us to his name.lol.(when talking about small I am not talking about Meeks in Indy small.with DT at 272lbs)

The other guys outside of Ed.Johnson are unknown.

I also cant wait to see how Meeks uses Norwood.
