Matt Moore is having a Great Summer

Recommended Posts

While you're laughing go read what the observer wrote about cantwell being promoted to 2nd string not as a courtesty but because the panthers really like him. Makes drafting a 3rd string qb in the 2nd round look hilarious

Well while I was laughing, I still was able to recall the fact that they haven't started training camp yet, and Cantwell will look great on the practice squad come September.

The fact is that when your team has a QB on the top of their draft board they obviously have a good reason to do so. The message on what they thought of thier quarterback lineup could not have been more clear. Matt Moore deserves to start, but if he isn't lighting it up in September he will be benched, rightfully so. Pike and Cantwell can duke it out for the practice squad.

If you ask me, the only "message" was that the Panthers got tired of relying on the Chris Weinkes, Vinny Testaverdes, and David Carrs of the world when their starting QB got hurt.

Remember when they drafted J-Stew, and everybody said he will be the starter because they have lost faith in D-Will? Obviously, that turned out to not be the case, and I don't think it will be the case with Clausen either. He's here to give them options and to push Matt Moore to keep getting better, and if he does happen to win the job, that's just icing on the cake.

No I'm saying we wasted the pick because we already have a good qb on the roster. The pick should have been used on a player that can make a difference on the field not on the bench

When you're a troll, you play the contrarian even if it means arguing with yourself...look at Gman's post below before the draft

. Bringing in another QB doesnt create contreversy. Its creating competition and providing much needed debth in case things dont work out with moore or in case he is injured. I like Moore but you are jumping the gun and ready to declare him Peyton manning. If he's really as good as we all think he can be then there should be no reason for him to feel threatened by a draft pick. Competition can only be a good thing.

And I stand by every word that I said in that thread. BUT clauSen was not the best option when we were picking, golden tate and terrance cody were. Had they been off the board I would have had no problem with that pick. Got anything else you wanna pull out? I know you have saved every one of my posts lol

I don't know it's really nice having Clausen and the QB position solidified for once. But the idea of Tate and Smitty lining up together would be unbelievable. Though I think the FO believes that Edwards can be that kind of player and was their guy from the get go.

Rrright. More likely scenario would have been you whining about not taking a chance at a game changer like Clausen and whining about our lack of depth at QB. After all, you're complaining now that he's a third string QB. That's the troll game that you have mastered.

Golden Tate went exactly where people expected he would. Jimmy Clausen went a full round late. To act like there was better value there is simply not factual. Carolina needed a QB (without arguing over whether they will be a backup or starter) and got arguably the best value in the draft.

Let's keep this in perspective - the Rams were working out Clausen ten days before Draft Day as one of the final four #1 prospects.

Claussen wasn't as valuable as people think. I view him the same as The Golden Calf of Bristol. They both should have gone late in the 2nd or 3rd round. I would have been ok with picking one of them only if there was nothing better available. The problem was there was a stud sitting there at two of our most critical needs and we passed on them both for qb depth.
