Just a little update on S-Jax

Recommended Posts

Larry Brown suggested Stephen Jackson come back a little leaner and more focused this season, and he's cooperating, showing up for voluntary practice with Charlotte's summer-league team.

"If I would have been 10 to 15 pounds lighter, I would have been moving a little better, my defense would have been better," Jackson said. "A lot of things would have been better. So when he told me that, I definitely agreed with him." A more focused and better conditioned Jackson would be a good thing, and he continues to be an underrated fantasy player.

I know I talked up trading him in the Ben Gordon thread, but I really hope he sticks around. It seems like he's settled down from his wilder days and that he's becoming a true leader for the Bobcats.

Says the guy that doesn't know about Gerald Wallace and Tyrus Thomas.

Apparently you don't know the meaning of "#1 offensive threat."

When the Bobcats feel like they NEED a basket, particularly a last second shot, the ball is going to Stephen Jackson to take it, idiot.

Jackson is going to, just like he was last season, be the one taking the last shot, trying to salvage Bobcats possessions, just like Bryant does for the Lakers, James did for the Cavs, and Wade did for the Heat.

Jackson being that guy means the Bobcats aren't going anywhere.

Think before you speak

1. Bobcats vs. N.Y. Knicks (October 30th, 2009)- D.J. Augustin's two free throws gave the Bobcats a 102-100 win in OT.

2. Bobcats vs. Philadelphia 76ers (December 5th, 2009)- Raymond Felton's layup with 4.7 seconds left gave the Bobcats a 106-105 win over the 76ers

3. Bobcats @ Cleveland Cavaliers (January 3rd, 2010)- Flip Murray's 3-pointer with 56 seconds left put the Bobcats up for good as they beat the Cavs 91-88.

4. Bobcats vs. Memphis Grizzlies (January 9th, 2010)- Gerald Wallace's tip in at the buzzer gave the Bobcats an 89-87 win over the Grizzlies.

5. Bobcats @ Sacramento Kings (January 18th, 2010)- Raymond Felton hit two free throws with 20.7 seconds left put the Bobcats up three, the Kings cut it to one and Flip Murray hit one free throw to seal the deal. The Bobcats won 105-103

6. Bobcats vs. Washington Wizards (February 9th, 2010)- Raymond Felton hit a fade away jump shot with 1.9 seconds left to give the Bobcats a 94-92 win.

7. Bobcats @ Minnesota Timberwolves (February 10th, 2010)- Nazr Mohammed's dunk with less than 30 seconds to go gave the Bobcats a 93-92 win.

8. Bobcats @ Memphis Grizzlies (February 26th, 2010)- Raymond Felton and Boris Diaw hit the last two shots to give the Bobcats a 93-89 win.

9. Bobcats vs. Milwaukee Bucks (April 2nd, 2010)- Stephen Jackson's 3 pointer with 52 seconds left gives the Bobcats an 87-86 win in OT.

10. Bobcats @ New Orleans Hornets (April 7th, 2010)- D.J. Augustin's 3-pointer with 16 seconds left followed by Raymond Felton's two free throws give the Bobcats a 104-103 win.

11. Bobcats vs. Detroit Pistons (April 10th, 2010)- Gerald Wallace's two free throws folled by Larry Hughes's two free throws give the Bobcats a 99-95 win.

The 11 games I listed above are all the games the Bobcats won by 4 points or less this year and I see a variety of names up there not just Jackson's. Let's count how many.

1. D.J. Augustin

2. Raymond Felton

3. Flip Murray

4. Gerald Wallace

5. Nazr Mohammed

6. Boris Diaw

7. Stephen Jackson

8. Larry Hughes

That is half the team, half of the Bobcats 2009-2010 roster hit a game winning shot/free throw. We don't have a go-to-guy because anyone on the roster is capable of making a shot.

None of that changes the fact that Jackson is considered the GO TO man on this team.

Did you watch any of the playoff games?

Did you?

Who got the ball when they felt like they needed a basket? It was Jackson missing every freaking time.

Have you ever watched a possession? Most possessions have a last second shot. When the shot clock is expiring. Same difference. Jackson is the guy who's most likely to get the ball to take a last second shot.

Every team has a guy who is the best scorer on the team, who is the guy that's usually going to get the ball when they need a basket. For the Bobcats, it's Stephen Jackson, and if you don't know that, then you haven't been paying attention.

I have watched a possession and I noticed that Stephen Jackson averages 20.6 points per game. Only 14 individuals in the entire NBA average more points than him.

Shooting Guard Ranks

Only 4 shooting guards average more points than Jackson

I also noticed that Jackson averages 5.0 rebounds a game, only 3 other shooting guards average more rebounds than him.

I noticed that Jackson averages 3.7 assists per game, only 7 other shooting guards average more assists than him.

Jackson is not just a scorer he is an all-around ball player. The Bobcats made their first ever playoff appearance with him and "The Force" leading the way.

Jackson averages 1.6 steals per game. Only 3 other shooting guards average more than him.

Only 5 more shooting guards average more blocks than him

I suggest you stop talking like you understand basketball you are embarrassing yourself.

Numbers don't mean everything.

Stephen Jackson is the Bobcats' "GO TO GUY."

If they feel like they "NEED A BASKET" they are giving him the ball, just like they did in the Playoffs.

You need to stop believing that numbers tell you a whole story. Numbers are a "RESULT" of an action, not the cause of the action. A number doesn't lead to itself, duh.

Besides, the fact that he led the team in scoring supports my argument more than yours, fool.

Not a model of efficiency, Jackson usually scores more than others because he takes more shots...including end of shot clock and end of game shots.

Numbers is what gets player MVP Trophey's i.e. LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Paul Pierce. Those guys have also all been to the finals. One of them has one multiple titles.

ACTIONS get players MVP trophies.

ACTIONS are recorded as numbers.

Numbers are not more important than actions, because there would be no numbers without actions...just ask the players sitting on the bench.

Ever seen a benchwarmer win an MVP trophy? He can't get any "NUMBERS" without "PLAYING", aka, doing something!
