Who Makes the Team???

Recommended Posts

Ok, we have no money to spend and right now we can barely field a team. As of right now are depth chart looks like this.

Center

1. Tyson Chandler

2. Nazr Mohammed

3. DeSagana Diop

4. Alexis Ajinca

Power Forward

1. Boris Diaw

2. Tyrus Thomas (Should be # 1)

3. Derrick Brown

Small Forward

1. Gerald Wallace

Shooting Guard

1. Stephen Jackson

2. Gerald Henderson

Point Guard

1. D.J. Augustin

With this being our roster as of right now and the Bobcats not having any money to spend it is very likely that the four other roster spots will be filled by participants in the summer league. The summer league participants include...

Bobcats Summer League Roster

Darius Miles

Shawne Williams

Pape Sow

Nathan Jawai

Alexis Ajinca

Antonio Anderson

Derrick Brown

Gerald Henderson

Alade Aminu

Marcus Ginyard

Brandon Bowman

Dennis Clemente

Sherron Collins

Marquis Gilstrap

Brandon Hazzard

Tyren Johnson

Jerel McNeal

Jeremy Pargo

P.J. Tucker

Now out of these guy's who do you expect to make it to the Bobcats roster? If you want give me an updated depth chart which includes these guy's. Personally I like Jeremy Pargo, Jerel McNeal, Sherron Collins, Dennis Clemente, and Darius Miles.

The Bobcats have made more trades than any other team since Jordan and Brown started making the decisions. We're not going to be limited to just these guys. If we were though, Collins and Miles would get two of the spots, the other two would be toss-ups.

Who are we going to trade.

Chandler- No one will take on that piece of sh*t contract.

Mohammed- One of the more likely players to be traded but would have to be to a desperate team.

Diop- No his contract sucks.

Ajinca- No one even knows who he is.

Diaw- Also one of the more likely players to be traded but his contract is not that great either.

Thomas- He is to valuable.

Brown- He is to young to have any trade value.

Wallace- He is to valuable.

Jackson- He is to valuable.

Henderson- He is to young to have any trade value.

Augustin- He is the only point guard on the roster so we can't trade him. No one swaps point guards for point guards.

Mohammed and Diaw are really the only options.

These three guys right here is who we're going to trade. Chandler and Mohammed have value as expiring contracts. That's the thing about the NBA, trades don't have to just be for talent, they can and often are all about salary and payroll space. There's teams that would take on Chandler just so they can get out of $12MM next year.

Diaw is another guy I see getting traded. If the Knicks miss out on a PF, then D'Antoni may look to get a guy that he knows pretty well. Diaw fits that bill perfectly.

There's three players we can likely swap, and all three of them are making some decent coin. We can get back decent players and/or salary relief for the next few years.

Larry Hughes will be on the 2010-2011 roster.

Its a toss-up between him and Flip Murray, who has expressed interest in returning to Charlotte. Personally I'd rather have Flip.

If an expiring contract is attractive to another team because they can get out of $12Mm next year, then why is not just as attractive to us ?

Based on point production which is what the Bobcats need I would go with Flip, he scored 20 or more points 6 times compared to Larry Hughes's 4. Now I know 2 games doesn't mean much, but those for games were with the Knicks. 3 out of the 6 games Flip ended up with double figures in were with the Bobcats which includes probably his second best game in his career where he ended up with 31 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, and 2 steals.

I say FLIP MURRAY!!!

    • Man, what interesting polarization here.  Some, hard pass while others would jump their own mom to make  the pick (ok, I just inserted that mental image, ha ha). Warren produced despite being the main focal point of the Penn State offense.  I didn't watch Penn State, but that's what a lot of talking heads are saying so take that with a gigantic grain of salt here!  When I watch the highlights and listen to the analysis: dude is a bully.  He's big, strong and fast enough.  Not a home run threat of a guy, but someone who can use his size and strength to his advantage, like how Gronk did.  Does that make him a sure fire HOF player before he plays a snap?  No, of course not! But I think it's also very important to look at what's happened to other high draft pick TEs.  Top 10 TEs rarely make an impact.  Look at Kyle Pitts in ATL.  He's a great athlete, but was he a worthy high draft pick?  TJ Hockinson.  He was suppose to be a can't miss product, and was traded to the Vikings.  Here's a handy list (despite the source, eww): https://thefalconswire.usatoday.com/gallery/nfl-draft-falcons-tight-end-kyle-pitts-hayden-hurst-atlanta/ There has been much better value drafting guys in the 2nd-4th rounds.  I have no idea if Warren will wash out or not, but I'd MUCH rather draft the best pass rusher, CB or even WR than a TE in the top 10.  Now if the Panthers traded down into the late teens or early 20s and they are sold on him being a difference maker...  I guess that's a different conversation. It could also just be a smoke screen.  Since we telegraphed Legette last year, could be gaming some of the other teams.  Or we could have a hard-on for him. I do enjoy the off season 😃
    • Guess I'm in the minority, love this mock. If you told me we somehow could get both TMac and Starks I would have thought that meant we traded future picks to move up.
