I have lived and worked all over SC. The level of support is fuging pathetic.

I have encountered far more rooting against the Panthers than for them.

Hence, I have never considered it SC's team. It is definitively a NC team.

To be fair, NC people have this weird hatred for all things SC and try to gate keep the team.

It isn't gate keeping. Most of SC is either ambivalent or openly hostile to the Panthers for reasons I cannot fathom.

I remember being in a packed sports bar in Columbia and not being able to watch the Panthers game because all the "fans" wanted to see some 28th string Cleveland QB make his first NFL start.

There are almost no pro sports fans in SC at all. They care only about college football.

I moved from Charlotte to Greenville about 10 years ago for work.  When I moved here it was like this.  The radio shows were all college and ppl only wore college gear.  I've noticed the last couple years more and more Panthers gear and there are a couple stations that talk Panthers now.  Also to be fair, Charlotte is a Pro city, but there are alot of fans of other teams there

Yeah, I have been around Greenville/Anderson/Clemson on and off over the past 15+ years. They basically care nothing about anything other than Clemson football.

Greenville might change as that area has changed. Lots of people moving there that don't have the stink of being college football brainwashed.

Connor Shaw is one of the most beloved players in Gamecock history. Of course they would want to watch him (assuming that’s who you’re referring to).

Sounds right. That's the difference between professional sports fans and college fans. Once you aren't on the team, pro sports fans move on. College sports fans care zero about pro football except being homers for their typically underwhelming players.

You can absolutely be both. I love the Panthers and have followed them for as long as I can remember. I also love the Gamecocks and keep tabs on former players. And, fwiw, I don’t think it’s any different than the mass of people who play fantasy football and have a favorite team. You want the players on your fantasy team to do well but still have your pro team as the priority.

Anyways, we’ve strayed wayyyy off topic. I would be all for Nick E even with pick 8. I want a stud no matter what position.

Emmanwori should definitely be in the running for the 8th pick.  His game shows he's a superstar waiting in the mix, a ball hawk.  Now we see him leading in almost every drill he participated in at the combine among the safeties. (Coming in second with his 40 yard dash of 4.38)  He is sure fire.  If Mason Graham is not on the board at eight, Emmanwori is my favorite to be the pick.
