The combine athletic testing removes weird variables and offers an extra data point if you're trying to weigh conflicting indicators. Case in point: Shemar Stewart had 39 pressures. Good! He converted only 1.5 into sacks. Bad! Why might that have happened? Does he lack burst to close on the QB? Enter the combine, which answers: he does not. Now, everyone knew that he was a good athlete. But "he's definitely going to be the best athlete every time he steps on the field" is new info and I don't see why it wouldn't change your opinion of him at all. -

He's the type that will be in the eye of the beholder. For me, at his size, you'd expect a better run defender. Doesn't seem to peel off OLs quickly enough to wrap up runners. He gets caught up and can't move off interior linemen once they've got him in their grips. When he seems to have a strict assignment on a passing down, he can be good but he plays kind of inconsistent and awkward. Kind of a fringe R3/4 talent for me. Of the bigger IDLs that can play 2 gap - I like Tyleik, Collins, & Phillips over Walker.
