ESPN: Panthers have "worst group of D-tackles in the league"...

The only thing that really bothers me, is that he's saying the Panthers D-line just plain sucks and that they have no chance to get better, not that they're unknown. How can he possibly know this? Does anybody really believe that this guy has studied coaches tape on Leonard and Tyler? It's more likely that he googled them just to get the trade information right, because he had never even heard of them.

On the other hand, I'm quite sure that Fox and Meeks actually did study the coaches tapes and saw something they liked, or they wouldn't have traded away future draft picks for them.

Actually I wish that all our opponents this year took his word as gospel and prepared accordingly. Problem is they actually watch film and prepare for each opponent since they know that talent wise almost every team is capable of winning on any given Sunday. So while the pundits may be underestimating us, I doubt any of our opponents are this year.

I wouldn't say they are in a worse situation than the Panther, because I believe the d-line this year will be the biggest weakness on the team, but there are team that are in just as bad a situation going into this season. Rams, Seahawks, Bucs, Giants and Lions. And those are just the team I can think of in the NFC who play a 4-3. Least experienced, by a mile but horrible play by experienced players or once talented players is just as bad as inexperience.

Whuzzat? :reddevil:

On a serious note: Even I am shocked at how horrible our DTs are....

Our DT's haven't been terrible.

In fact they looked pretty good yesterday.

The run defense did really well.

Don't know why you'd go digging through months worth of posts to make a point that doesn't exist, especially when the other line on our team is what's hurting us the most.

Because looking back in retrospect is always fun. I'll admit that even I was wrong as I thought Tank Tyler would become a decent player for us.

"Pretty good" you say? They offer just about no push in the middle for all 3 games. Their run defense was average, but I guess that's "pretty good" for this core.

Nice tidbit from Gantt

The best penetrating DT available. RT @RubberSoul84 Darin, I know this isn't your bag, but who do Panthers draft with top 10 pick next year?

I'll even add this for fun.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -Tank Tyler has a sense of what outsiders think of Carolina's revamped defensive line without Julius Peppers and two other starters.

``I don't read the papers, but they might say we're the worst line in the league,'' Tyler said Monday. ``I would appreciate them saying that, because I'm always out to prove somebody wrong.''

Tank who?

The point is to reflect on a report that was made in the past yet we ignored. All in good fun.

We gave up 81 yds and a TD to Benson. Not saying that was all up the middle but our DTs aren't shutting people down yet. And our sack count is pathetic. Clay Matthews has more by himself.

Not a stat freak but...

81 yds rushing? he carried it 27 times and avg. 3.0 yds per carry...

Dwill had like 65 or something yds with like 10 carries. we did a good job against benson
