Should I get a lawyer?

May 2008 a co-work flipped a gas powered utility cart i was the passenger in. I have a lot of road rash on an arm and knees and required knee surgery (just to clean up damaged cartilage). The knee is mostly better, it sometimes aches and stairs aren't fun. The orthopedic specialist gave me a 5% impairment rating. I had an informal conference with workman's comp today, and the number they came up with for the settlement seems kind of low. I still work for this company and would prefer to continue employment there.

phew....thought this was about Salty becoming your new step dad!!!

I am not up on all the laws and poo, but it seems everyone else is suing someone for far less than what happened to you!

I don't think he wants to buy the cow.

Seriously, I agree. I realize this is a lawyer's dream. I didn't do anything worng but show up at work.

Take if from me!

YES!

At least talk with one. They will tell you up front, whether you have a case or not. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT just pick one out of the phone book!

My employer's Wroker's Comp lawyer offered me $36,000 to settle. I'm a paraplegic as a result of a OTJ injury! I'll be happy to give you my lawyers name, though he usually deals with bigger cases. If he doesn't want the case, I imagine he can point you to someone that will do a good job for you.

My lawyer and I have been working on my case for almost 2 years now, but he has done great things for me. It's their lawyers that keep dragging things out.

By law, your employer can not fire you because you have a pending Worker's Comp case against them.

I know I have a case. I guess the question becomes do I think I'm entitled to more than what I think I am. But yeah I guess I could call your lawyer. I am in SC if that makes a difference.
